Computer froze overnight (literally). Any advice?
I took my PC out to spend a friday night at my cousins and transfer some data and stuff to his brand new desktop. Came back tired last night and left my PC in the trunk of my car. This morning I went to pick up and it was freezing, as evidenced by a water bottle frozen right next to my PC. Since it's water cooled I assumed the water inside froze and the hoses were solid, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up so bad so I left it all day in a warm (not hot) room to hopefully have the water inside go back to liquid form. This is freaking crazy. I have not turned it on yet, any advice? Should I worry about anything? You may belittle me, this is quite silly honestly, a mistake of my part.

Yes if it was a hard-tubed custom-loop, that would be a totally different story.

Think of an AIO unit and what's inside like the Radiator and Tubing in your Car.
Yes it's just like that.

First off unless we're talking really extreme temps, the liquid inside the AIO should not freeze easily. They have additives in the liquid to help with anticorrosion, antibacterial... it's not going to freeze easily.

If the AIO is some how bad, you would first of all take precaution since you have liquid cooling. Soon as do go to finally turn the PC on, enter the BIOS and monitor the fans, pump, and CPU temps. If the AIO is faulty, you should be able to tell right from there.

Another thing you want to do before you ever attempt to plug it up and turn it on is to open it up after a few hours of being in room temp indoors and check for moisture. It would naturally disappear on its own. But again you want to be sure. You could help aid in getting rid of any build-up by using warm air applied via hair-dryer. But you want it to sit and warm up on its own before you really decide if that step is needed. You do not want to bring it in from having been in the cold and right away start using a blow-dryer on it.

If need be after it has sat a few hours, if it has a moisture build-up then you need to be cautious as that means it could be that way within the PSU as well.

One thing I would do right away though is remove the cmos coin battery. Put it back in after the PC dries out and warms up, when you are ready to actually turn it on. Then reinstall the battery before power on. Just know that the cmos settings (bios) will have reset back to factory defaults.

Does the liquid at least get colder (but not freezing)?

What if hypothetically someone were to drill a hole into a mini fridge/freezer next to their PC and drill a hole through it and place the radiator in the freezer? Or even use regular water but keep the temp to just above freezing so the water doesn't freeze? Would that help and could it be done?

If you get the liquid too cold, it might cause condensation on the way back into the PC.

Hmm true interesting.

Again IDK how times I have to say it. Let the PC warm up naturally in-doors for approx 24-48 hours. Then you won't have to worry about turning it on with the AIO liquid being too cold, condensation build-ups, etc.

There's no water so you're good. They come equipped with anti-freeze liquid not water. The liquid doesn't freeze like water does. Coolant has different properties than water.

If that were the case then car engines would crack open. They don't because car engines have anti-freeze instead of water. Same thing here.

I am pretty sure water freezing in cooling system isnt very great, comparing to a car where frozen coolant can crack the entire engine

Seriously, if the liquid in the loops could freeze, then it would have to be temperatures low enough to freeze us to death at least, because they literally ship AIO units in cold weather where they're kept in cardboard boxes and they'll sit in cold warehouses for possibly weeks.

It's not water, because water would have growth and corrosion. It's a custom-made fluid with additives to prevent growth, corrosion, and of course freezing.

This is not hard to figure out.

If it was that fragile, then it couldn't be delivered across the country or world by air-mail. Hence why you can't ship many items that come in aerosol cans by air-mail, as it would freeze and thaw during shipping.
