Doesn't really mater if you're connecting it to PC, although I usually go NTFS since it's usually the default selection if I'm not mistaken. But I know exFAT is more compatible with other hardware like TV's have usb support. If it's NTFS, They won't be able to read the drive.

If you will only use the drive with other Windows machines use NTFS, if you are using it with other OSs use FAT.

Does exFAT still have the 4gb file size limit?

edit: apparently, it doesn't. nvm. lol.

no, that's what makes it an option. If it had a 4 GB limit, it'd be as useless as FAT32.

That is a limitation of FAT which is a 32bit file system, exFAT is 64bit and has no such limitation. However exFAT is not as widely supported and it lacks any features provided by modern filesystems and is thus usually not the smartest nor most performant option.

hmm yes. it's pretty good actually, good to know.

-exFAT can be used where the NTFS file system is not a feasible solution.

-It is lighter in contrast to NTFS and supports file of sizes, more than 4GB.

-So, if you have an exFAT SD card, you shall face no issues while copying full-length HD movies on it which is not the case with FAT32

-Importantly it is compatible with: >=Windows XP, >=Mac OSX 10.6.5, Linux (using FUSE), Android.

I have external SSD with USB-C. I use FAT because I play video music on phone and PC. NTFS owned by windows.

exFAT is more suitable for those using the drive on both Windows and Linux systems. If all you ever use is Windows OS on PCs then NTFS is fine.
