Recommendations for affordable 5.1 Surround Sound System?
I would like to setup a Surround 5.1 Sound System and gain an advantage when online gaming by perceiving advanced directional sound (Front Left and right + Back Left and right).

I am looking for simple affordable recommendations. Also I will need a soundcard (external or internal) supporting 5.1 surround sound because my Motherboard's built-in soundcard is trash and corrupts the audio output at random.

I'm in Europe. Considering options like around 100-200 EUR range (flexible range).

The Logitech Z607 is around 150 Euro.

Cheap 5.1 speaker may not give you an advantage in online gaming. I recommend a headphone and DAC+AMP.
For music, movies or games?
Affordable? Nah, get a good 7.1 headset.

Is that possible under 200 Euro?. Those things do not come cheap around the Euro-zone.

Yeah. I have seen it in Best Buy but old version, and I do not like the way it sound. I prefer AV Receiver with old design speakers.

you can find good used, or get a nice receiver first than add the better speakers later

just avoid the htib, most do not have more inputs or upgradable speakers/sub
A few years back, I had a set of Creative Megaworks 550 5,1 THX speaker system, now that was NOT what made it great for 5.1 gaming. It was how I was able to position the two rear speakers behind me, suspended on my Creative Surround Station stand (just google it). With the center speaker mounted in front of me, L/R place in their respective places, I was able to enjoy full 5.1 surround gaming.

I recall play Dead space, when something hit the metal grill floor behind me, it made me jump! When I was playing a racing sim (think it was one of the NFS game), I recall speeding thru a tunnel, the surround sound and echo effects really made it sound like I was going thru a tunnel, it was that real!

No point getting a good set of 5.1 speakers, and receiver but not be able to mount speakers, especially the rear pair, in their correct positions. A setup like this, with appropriate supporting hardware (I think I was using a Creative Audigy back then) would be great for games where you rely on sound hints to narrow down where your enemies are.

Under $200 USD and living in most Euro countries, no your best bet really is just use Onboard Audio, set it to 24bit @ 48 or 96 Khz and use good quality Analog 3.5mm Stereo Headphones. Like studio quality ones. Then in your onboard audio settings, enable Virtual Surround. If need a Mic for online chat or online gaming, get a cheap Analog 3.5mm Lapel Mic. Then do some tests with the Mic in various apps and games so as to adjust your overall setup so the Mic doesn't pick much if any background noises, such as PC fan noise and such. Then learn how best to configure Push-To-Talk.

Do you know of any solutions that involve a foot pedal for PTT?
There has been USB foot pedals on the market for quite some time.

I was very happy for a long while with the older version of the logitech Z 906 5.1 but it's price went up drastically unfortunately .

Now days you have to invest a good chunk of cash to have good sound. I now have a 7.1.4 Atmos in my home theater/game room but it went well into the 4 digits (see profile)
