but i'm not sure about that as you werent able to tell your dad how to stop the Ads from popping up now n then, so yeah :)
That is totally NOT the point. My old man deciding to purchase the 'full' version on his own terms has nothing to do with my judgement on the program. Plus he isn't asking how to turn off the adverts in the first place.

Actually what you said was, your dad purchased pro after basically being fed up with the Ads on the free version.

That IS basically what you said, so what i originally stated was correct.

If you knew anything more about ASC than what youre stating, you would have known how to stop the Ads from popping up, which in turn would have made it so your dad wouldnt have needed to get pro to stop them.

so eh

You are making a lot of assumptions here aren't you?

Nope, just going by what you yourself said.

"I've reached this conclusion after having seen what the Pro version is 'supposed' to do after my dad has yielded to the constant blasting of its advertisements."

Yes becuz he's already purchased it for cying out loud, so why wouldn't I take a look at what it has to offer on extra in it's so-called 'Pro' version?

But whatever, this apparently isn't going anywhere. :steamfacepalm:

[☥] - CJ - My point was that using a registry cleaner to remove junk from the registry is not always a great idea, and in some cases they may remove more than they should.

If you want to remove lefts overs from old software, it would be much better to use uninstaller software like; Revo Free/Pro, Total Uninstall or Wise Uninstaller, that remove entries related to that piece of software.

I also use CCleaner, and have used its startup tool and temp files remover. I would still be careful with its registry cleaner and to be safe make a backup, before deleting any entries if dont know what they relate to. Id also recommend reading the article on the fourms linked below.

Information for people wondering about the registry cleaner

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

I really wouldn't recommend using a registry cleaner, they can cause more problems than they fix most of the time. If you do, make sure before you delete anything that you create a backup.

Registry Cleaners: Digital Snake Oil

Why Using a Registry Cleaner Won’t Speed Up Your PC or Fix Crashes
http://www.howtogeek.com/171633/why-using-a-registry-cleaner-wont-speed-up-your-pc-or-fix-crashes/

I seconded that. If you're going to use ccleaner, use it for temp files and etc. If you head to the Piriform forums, there are threads about problems after using the registry cleaner. In worst case scenario, cannot boot up the PC.

Software vendors tend to provide their own cleanup tool for troubleshooting. Otherwise, there's no/little benefit and disregard the marketing hype of some claiming it can make the PC fast and etc. Redundant keys do not impact the performace of the OS.[miekiemoes.blogspot.co.uk]

Can I tell any of them to hunt for uninstaller entries which doesn't exist any longer and remove any leftover files? How?

I should have worded that better, if uninstalling a software through Revo, Wise uninstaller these programs will scan for leftovers related to in the registry, along with file and folder leftovers. You can then choose if you want to delete those.

If you install a program through say Total Uninstall, it will montior the installation and see what registry entries are made, so when it comes to uninstalling software it will get most of the registry entries.Unfortunately program uninstallers cant help after a software program has been removed.

I don't know why I have the left-overs but I think it's from unstalling Steam which removed the whole Steam folder including Steamapps. But I guess that should also had removed them from the uninstaller in Windows so maybe that wasn't it.

I did run some undelete program to try to get them back but sadly the default on that was to undelete everything TO THE SAME FOLDER, I aborted that and found that setting but then the stuff which had already been undeleted of course was gone and I also ended up with a bunch which I don't know where they belong.

I mostly just wanted to keep my game saves and possibly games I had downloaded when they were free to play in game they could be played if one put back the date but I guess that may not actually work, I've never tried.

Anyway for some reason I think I've got left-overs there. Or maybe I just remember inaccurately and all I've got (had got) are (were) DRM-free installs of some games and not just the Steam installs and that I've already sorted that one out by actual adding them to Steam.

Can the programs help at all after the programs have just been installed or can I just aswell uninstall themselves right now? =P

ASC comes with an uninstaller that does the same thing
