USB 3.0 Hub + Wired Xbox 360 controller = blinking LED
I've got a USB 3.0 Hub (AC adapter powered 7-ports Amazon brand) running a wired Xbox 360 controller. The controller itself works fine but I've got a flashing light on the controller (player 1 position) that wont stop. I've tried to use different ports and rolling back USB and Hub drivers but nothing will do. To solve this problem, I've settle to plug the hub in a USB 2.0 port and now the LED on the controller has stop blinking. If I plug the Xbox 360 controller directly in the USB 3.0 port, the LED will just lit up as normal and won't blink either. I'm running Windows 10. I would like to be able to have the Hub plugged in USB 3.0 and not have that blinking light on my controller! Any idea?

Self-powered?

Do you mean it's powered by the USB port?

Just unplug when not using.
Use a 2.0 port
3.0 are for 3.0 devices, nothing else.

USB powered hubs are junk, if you use a hub like that, it must be dedicated power.

USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with earlier USB devices.

Sorry, by self powered, I meant powered by an AC adapter.

Ok then this should be fine.

Try pluggin the controller by itself into a USB 2.0 port.
Once installed properly and tested/working, reboot the system and then try the controller on a 3.0 port / hub

That is not the point. And if you do not understand, look it up.
3.0 port = uses a 3.0 driver, always, regardless what is plugged in.
Which can be an issue with some devices. Not saying this is a given and thus will refuse to work, but it is one more thing in your way.
