Windows shell common dll has stopped working

So I get this error everytime I click on something in the "recording devices" tab in sound. No clue how to fix this, and I'm very inexperienced in fixing computer problems. Thanks

What kind of operation system do you use?
and is there a chance your operation system installed on an ssd?

simillar problems happend to people with an operation system installed on san disk ssd's

normaly you can fix dll issue by redownloading this dll file or do a system restore

I just restored my computer and it did nothing.

Search Windows for "cmd.exe" (without the quotes), right-click "Command Prompt" from the list and "Run as Administrator".

Under the admin command prompt, type:

sfc / scannow

(This will scan your Windows critical files and attempt to repair them)

Scan for malware, just in case.

Also, find your motherboard offical website, under support / drivers, get the latest stable versions for your Operating System. Install those and make sure they are compatible.
