Freesync monitor with Nvidia GPU?
Hi, so I am getting a new pc soon. The pc will have this GPU:
Asus GeForce GTX960 STRIX 4GB.
Right now I have a 60hz monitor and are thinking about upgrading to a 144hz. I mostly play competitive csgo. I found a nice cheap 144hz monitor (AOC g2460pf) but it has freesync for AMD GPU's.
Will it work fine with my gpu? Especially for csgo since it is the only fps game I play on pc. And is the freesync option a must since I can't really use it with my gpu.

Will it work? Yes. Can you use Freesync? No.
Freesync will only work with Radeon GPUs. The monitor will work, but will not force G-sync since it does not support it.
I'd get a much better GPU first anyways.
GTX 960 is not exactly 144 Hz material, more powerful card would be better like GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 1060.
Yea GTX 970 and under; stick to 1080p/60Hz

Otherwise get a better GPU.
No point in buying AMD FreeSync Display since it won't do NVIDIA G-Sync on your NVIDIA GPU. If you want proper sync, get a Display that supports G-Sync.

If those are too much for you, look at BenQ 1080p, 144Hz 24 inch or 27 inch

An RX 480 will take advantage of the Freesync monitor. You should wait for the RX 490, though.
I think he can manage to adjust setting to have 144 fps and more (cs go) with gtx 960 if cpu will not be a bottleneck.
But if you want to use gtx 960 - must buy monitor with g-sync.
Or buy amd gpu and monitor with freesync.

But if you haven't yet bought that gpu consider buying something stronger...

I'd just like to interject. I was recently trying to find a monitor for a friend on a budget. So no GSync basically... It was actually cheaper for a 1440p/144hz monitor with Freesync as opposed to a monitor with identical stats sans FS. I'm only bringing it up as others may face the same situation. To me, in that case you should either save up for GSync or just buy the cheaper Freesync monitor and ignore that feature.
FreeSync requires AMD GPU
GSync requires NVIDIA GPU

Otherwise it will not work.
Well i've decided just to save up for the benq xl2411z then. I already got the gtx 960, it works perfectly fine with csgo, I get over 300 fps with it, so i guess the 144hz monitor would work fine with it? However i will definitly upgrade to a better gpu in the future.
i am planning on making a build with a gtx 1070. i am not willing to pay extra 200 dollars for Gsync tho. my question is. and i think this is the question multiple people will have. will my computer be able to use the 144Hz without any stuttering or screentearing? will it work fine?

Possibly, there is no definite yes or no to that.
Best bets are:
> Set games to have VSync off
> Set NVIDIA Control Panel's VSync under Global to Adaptive Sync
