Each die is different, there is no universal setting. It's really up to you to find your own GPU's sweet spot. Start off with a +50mhz core overclock and work from there in 10mhz incrementations.

Don't bother overclocking the memory clock. it offers no real advantage in normal programs and games.

This... Except for the memory clock.

While this was commonly held to be true in the past... It is no longer the case. Faster memory really shows valuable with higher resolution, both rendering and texture size.

While the 970 may not be strong enough to show this... It doesn't hurt trying, after finding a core clock.
