H80i v2 VS h100i v2
Im looking to upgrade my bulky, phanteks ph-tc14pe that barely even fits in my case (which is also why im buying a corsair 400c) Im on an i7 6700k and gtx 970. Are the extra 15-20 dollars worth it for the h100i v2? I heard that h80i v2 is only 1-4 degrees celcius worse than h100i v2. Also, is it even worth the upgrade? Im not sure if those watercoolers will perform better than my phanteks ph-tc14pe

Get the biggest one that can fit in your case.

h80 isnt much better than a 212evo
both have 120mm rad

h100 has a 240mm rad

It's natural for a number of HSF to beat AIO. But if you really have a tight case AIO can be an option over bulky HSF. But as above stated, the Hyper 212 Evo is still viable in a small case along with it's competition: Thermaltake NIC (which is smaller but better than the Hyper 212) and the DeepCool Gammaxx/IceBlade PRO (both roughly equal the performance of a Hyper 212). If you prefer esthetics, low profile Cryorig coolers can also be an option

I also recommend HSF, because they are virtually indestructible and can contain heat if ever the fan dies out. AIO's pumps can fail and instantly overheat your CPU without warning. Not scaring you but this is a pro for HSF

h80i v2, not normal h80. So its better to get an h100i v2 eh? Im buying the corsair 400c soon to replace my old case that was from my old build so would it fit the h100i v2

If you have the Corsair 400C has enough room for the H100I V2 then go with that.

Is performance difference from h100i v2 to h80i v2 big enough to make it worth the extra size and price?

unless you have dual gfx cards it is not worth it

Nope, single 970. I prefer a single card over sli/crossfire (just for the sake that some games dont support sli/crossfire and the drivers)

Anyways, my most desired answer is whether h80i v2 will perform better than my phanteks ph-tc14pe. If they perform around same i still might as well go h80i v2 for the sake of better looks and better overclock. The highest overclock on the 6700k i will do is maybe 4.7. Not gonna push it TOO much cause this is a first build and im kinda paranoid about my cpu dying from an extreme overclock

Both coolers are out of this world I mean I have a Corsair H60 V2 which has the same size radiator as the H80I V2 and I'm getting some sweet temps at idling and gaming when I'm gaming I have my Cpu going to a clock speed of 4.6GHz and when it's idling it goes to around 3.8GHz (basically a custom turbo boost).

Just get the AIO H80i V2. They are great looking and have good performance. I would only recommend the tc14pe if you hate noise and you don't want the extra moving parts that could fail (though miniscule failure rate). If you want more performance I recommend the Thermaltake Water 3.0 Pro , a single rad which matches some 240mm AIO's and has a thicker radiator than the H80i. If you want a beast then you can spend a couple more bucks for a Swiftech H220

Well from personal experience when it comes down to overclocking yes there is a difference, both are great cooling solutions but it really comes down to what you need from a cooling system, are you going for a small OC ? Or are you aiming very high? If your going for say 4.7ghz and higher then you will want the H100i, I've had my FX 6100 and now 8350 over 5.0ghz and still in safe operating temps, granted if you're aiming this high make sure you have proper airflow for the rest of your case..

Well i mean i was always frightened of the fact that if i overclocked my cpu would just die... Im gonna go small right now, probably not higher than 4.6 or 4.7. H80i v2 might cut it..

As you overclock slowly raise the multi, test and wait for it to crash, freeze ect, the bump the volts just 1 click, then start over and repeat, make sure you monitor your temps...
