Im completely on your side if it comes to the CPU discussion.
Only Intel. Everytime.
BUT
Many Gamers have like 600-1000 Bucks for their PC.
If you want to Build a good quality PC you cannot afford a good Nvidia Graphics card for the rest of the money.
If someone comes up to me and tells me hes got over 1k he will get a Nvidia GPU for sure.
Yeah but when 1060 comes out and it has 980 peformance and is only $20-$50 more exspensive I am pretty sure most gamers will spend the extra money on 1060 seeing how there use is a huge price gap between the 970 and 980. With the RX 480 peforming like a 970.
Edit: What would be worse is if the price point of the 1060 was the same as the 480 then most will not buy the 480.
I don't know why I'm even bothering to respond to you but here it goes...
The 480 is a $200 card, it's a budget card. By your rational why would Nvidia release the 1070? The 1080 is better.
The idea is to release a card to fit every budget. The 480 is an amazing card for $200 and its price vs performance is excellent HOWEVER, it's still just a budget card and the higher end amds and nvidias will destroy it (at a much higher price tag).
I don't think you really seem to understand what you're taking about. Either that or you just pulled an epic troll job.
They dont "release" the 1070. It has already been released. The 10XX is an entire version of 1 chip just clocked a lil bit higher or lower, more or less vram and so on.
They are doing it just that most of Nvidia fanboys who cant wait will buy the 1080.
RX is a new gen. Why should they release a new generation if its worse than their old gen.
The 1070 and 1080 are the same thing. Nothing new about the 1070 or 1060. But the RX is new.

You should educate yourself a bit. GTX 1080 based on brand new microarchitecture (based on older Maxwell, however). Polaris by nature is the same old CGN (slighly improved) reimplemented in better manufacturing process.
That and they tacked on 9 Teraflops of processing for the 1080 model. The 1070 and 1080 have very different PCB layouts, and from what I understand the 1060 is based on the 1070's layout.
Something to keep in mind while purchasing though - SLI is disabled by nVidia for the 1060 3GB models, so not even ASUS or Sapphire will be able to help you there.
I am a huge AMD fan but i stay honest and objective. So show me where it almost compete with 1080???
It can't it come close now in DOOM with VULKAN to more expansive 1070 20% difference but thats one game.
This reference card and awesome achievement but its vulkan Async compute thats doing it in one game.
Oh and to those who say RX480 is beaten by 970 are false in every way only super biased sites showing this fake benches that 970 3.5gb old card beats the RX480 8GB card only gamecraps nvidia sponsored games where AMD is gimped by criminal organisation called Nvid(maf)ia.
RX 480 is great card for only 239 dollars 8GB its on avarage around 980 performance in DX12/VULKAN supported games which is FUTURE not DX11.
GTX 1060 will probably in some DX11 games beat the RX480 but i very doub it will beat RX480 in any DX12/Vulkan supported game.
Its ok being fan of brand but stay honest and objective don't lie about performance ok.
@OP,
Sapphire is AMD only GPU maker and awesome brand ASUS is maybe bigger and both brands but if you want true AMD experience buy SAPPHIRE:)
Here a video with vulkan to CRUSH nvidia fans there dream cards to budget bin:P

Remember here RX480 is in this bench a reference card not OC and cost only 239$ compare to the 1070 450$ card.
480 compete with 1080? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA amd superfanboy here i see... 480 is lucky if compete with 1060... LOL
