Playstation 3 Fan Mod

I recently bought a broken Playstation 3 60GB launch model with the YLOD, to fix and then sell on eBay and the only way i can fix it is the heat gun reflow, but i know this is only a termporary fix (i've used it before and it lasted 3 weeks max on my PS3, i eventually got it reballed) so i thought logically, if i can keep the PS3 cool then there shouldn't be another YLOD problem, so i am considering putting some tiny fans in the back for exhaust, i noticed inside the PS3 the fan connector seems to be 4 pin, so i want to know, can i use a 3 way 4 pin splitter for these fans?

the ps3 uses 3wire pwm fan with no rpm/sense feedback

There isn't any extra room inside for fans; this is why a slot-type blower fan was used.

When sitting flat, the older PS3 fan is on the bottom. What could be done is modding the whole bottom of the PS3 chassis, and making use of a laptop cooler, which can be powered off a single USB port.

I am planning to mod the case for this purpose, there is actually a spot in the side where you can fit some small fans

How small though?
If you were to mod the bottom of the chassis, you could have a laptop like cooler with a 140 - 200+ mm fan that is quiet and moves alot of air. If you stick a couple 30-60mm fans on the side, they'll just be ineffective, noisy; or both.

I'm now just planning to install the PS3 ezcool fan controller and have the fan spin really fast, I actually have the console in front of me now playing GTA IV
