Yeah I saw a lot of people talking about that but I didn't touch its settings, I even uninstalled Asus Tweak to ensure no modification were possible.
I'm lost here, I also had to change the PSU (I think that's how you call the power suplly) because it had unadapted cable (english adaptator instead of EU) so I don't think it's the cause, Corsair's hardware is pretty solid imo..
MSI afterburner can underclock as well as overclock. Move the core and memory sliders to minimum and see what happens. If that is successful gradually increase the settings.
That card is already overclocked, so it may be necessary to boost a mobo setting. Google for similar issues and fixes. The link below shows what the OC is.

Hi, if you reboot the PC the monitor has signal again or it the signal its still lost? If so, then try your monitor on another Desktop / Laptop computer, both with and without your own cable. Sometimes the issue is a broken video cable, monitor conector or even the monitor itself that dies.
Let us know the results.
There is a dedicated app for that made by Asus, the one I uninstalled, I remember underclocking 150Hz and it still did it (not 100% sure).
I'll check it out, thanks
When I reboot, everything's back to normal !
I'll try my brother's monitor tomorrow and I'll be back on you.
I also went in the advanced power settings of windows and set it to high performances, now I'm about the check out on Rocket League, i have the issue very fast on this game, much faster than Overwatch.
Btw, my monitor is brand new so I don't think it comes from that, plus it works fine out of games. (even tho I have tearing when steam's on full screen). It's an Asus VX228 and my computer calls it " generic plug and play monitor"
Hi,
Have you activated V-Sync ? Sometimes deactivating it can produce the tearing, almost sure that's the name of the configuration parameter.
Well, a lot of years ago i used to work as a PC technician and i tell you this, sometimes even brand new stuff can fail, not everything that cames out of a factory immediately is error free.
¿Maybe your video card is overheating? Have you checked temperatures?
Hi !
Where do I activate V-Synch ? x)
My GPU seems to be around 70°C while playing, CPU is around 50°C and 30°C when idle.
Edit: i'm talking about the steam client, not the games ^^ When I have it fullscreen and I scroll down, it tears. Smaller window doesn't tear.
Changing cable didn't work.
Now I'm going to download Asus Tweak and downclock the GPU.
Question tho: I already changed the GPU with amazon, does it mean all OC GPU cause problems ? You can juste plug it, instal drivers and enjoy your damn material ?
Make sure you install the latest drivers from the nvidia website
Not from the disk
Also, do yourself a favor and upgrade to Win10 ASAP, Win8 sucks.
In any case, 70C is fine for GPUs
Any number of things can cause the display driver to crash
Unstable Overclock
Faulty RAM stick
Faulty or Lacking Powersupply
Driver issues itself
In most cases, when its a driver related problem, uninstalling everything NVIDIA related and using DDU to do a clean install resolves such issues if it isnt caused by something else.
Choosing CUSTOM INSTALL and Only selecting the drivers and PhysX to be installed can be important as other drivers or even GFE can cause such issues when they arent needed to be installed.
And yeah, Factory Overclocked GPUs can come with their own problems, personally i prefer to manually overclock the GPU instead to avoid such possibilities.
Thank you for the ansewer (thanks to everyone else as well)
So !
Switching the monitor on and off doesn't bring the image back, I tried to change screen after the monitor looses signal, doesn't work either.
I installed lastest one from Nvidia website, the one optimised for overwatch.
I miiiight not have paid for windows 8.1 so if I upgrade I might be in trouble, wouldn't I ?
Unstable OC => it's factory, so idk (and it did it on 2 cards)
Faulty Ram stick => I'll try new ones, but I tried to change their slots and it didn't change anything
Lacking powersupply => it's 550W, performance mode
Drivers uninstall => i'll try it with your cleaning method
Finally there isn't many GTX 970 that aren't factory OC nowadays, the best rated ones are Asus Strix OC, KFA² OC and MSI Gaming 4G OC x)
Anyways I'm going to try it out !

Nothing has worked so far (underclocked, lowering frequency, changing ram slot ...)
So I cleaned the driver and installed lastest one. Only driver and physX, played overwatch for an hour and after 30sec of Rocket League crashed. I'm really exausted. I've been working on it for a week now, I'm going crazy. I'm gonna try new ram tomorrow and I'll go find my old gtx 660 and try to push it on Overwatch then on Rocket League to see if it's really the GPU that's faulty. I really don't understand, I had it change today but still... 2 GTX 970 DIRECT CUII OC, 2 fails.
If it works with the new card, I don't know what to do.
If it doesn't work with the new card, i'll try to exange CPU and Motherboard ? I don't know.
I really want this 900€ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to work...
Can it be, even remotely, connected to the fact that I have an SSD + HDD ?
Thank you for everything so far
Been there done that, its always between those 2.
and no, SSD n HDD wont cause it.
