USB 2.0 Connector in 3.0 Port?
I have a mobo that has 2 USB 2.0 connectors and my case has 2 front USB 3.0 ports. Can I plug the 2.0 connectors into the 3.0 ports?

I've heard of minor issues regarding that but I don't exactly know the validity to that. I have personally used USB 2.0 devices in USB 3.0 ports for a while now and have never had even the slightest issue with doing so.

USB3.0 is designed to be backward compatible so there shouldn't be any issue at all. There have been some defective USB3.0 controllers during the early years of its deployment but we're long past that now.

I don't know what you guys are talking about but op probably means internal connector for case front panel. I think that in most cases (usb3) connector is one solid piece and do not fit in usb2 header on motherboard. And 99% they do not supply usb2 _> usb3 convertor.

So you would need something like this http://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Female-Motherboard-Adapter-Converter/dp/B009SJCPO8

Or buy better motherboard...

+1 thats my understanding... that he wants to plug usb 3.0 mobo front panel connector from case into usb 2.0 mobo front panel connector which wont work

But that would be too obvious to ask wouldn't it?

USB 3.0 ports are backwards compatible for USB 2.0. There's no issue.

Since it's on your motherboard however, you need an adapter such as:
"USB 3.0 20-Pin Header Male to USB 2.0 9-Pin Motherboard Female Adapter "

That would only work at USB 2.0 speeds however.

or you could go "20pin header to 2 USB A type male Internal to External USB 3.0 Adapter", but that would go from your motherboard and stick out of your case (rather than via the front USB 2.0 hub). You could however use USB 3.0 devices directly, keeping the performance. Just might be messy, considering your PC case.

or you could get a PCI-e USB 3.0 card to use instead from the rear of the PC.
