Laptop Monitor Yellow Blurs/Discoloration
So I've had this new laptop, Dell Inspiron 7559, for a few months now. Great machine, btw. Two weeks ago I noticed that there was some very mild discoloration in the bottom right corner of my screen. I did a few google searches, but didn't find anything really helpful. It seemed to be temporary anyway, because it was gone the next morning. However, I continued to notice this happening every day. One day I came home and the discoloration had spread to become a thick yellow line down the right side of the screen. Not like 50% of the screen, like 10 or 15%. Last night as I was playing Skyrim and moving through a snowy environment, I could see that now it seemed to be on the bottom of the screen and up along the left side.

What has changed in my handling of the machine recently is that I am doing a lot of vehicle commute. I move the laptop around constantly, and I carried it in my messanger bag as I walked around my University all semester. Recently, I've started a lengthy commute by car, and I put the messanger bag in the passenger seat. As it is summer, I try not to leave it in the vehicle, but there is only so much I can do. I don't leave it in there for hours on end, and I do crack my windows, but I will ocassionally leave it in there in the heat. At home, it constantly sits on a 5-fan cooling pad.

It does seem to be temporary, and I am fairly confident that is being caused by heat, but I have no other sources to confirm this. Was hoping to get some other users' thoughts on this. What is causing it and how I can fix it.

Probably heat.

Place I worked at, the LCD TVs they had mounted in cases for drive thru lanes at fast food places, if the AC unit failed in the summer, the screens would over heat and you'd see discoloration and eventually the screen would fade to black.

It could be possible a loose video cable connection.

If the laptop is new and it's still covered under warranty, you'd probably be best to getting it fixed.

Can also be a magnetic field like a transformer, power cord, mobile phone, another pc, cooling pad (don't run the pad off the laptop), tv, light. Easy to tell - if it is constant in everywhere, it is unlikely to be magnetic. Could also be due to a knock, but that would be more likely to show across the display.

overheat or
try to "shake" the display away from you - to yourself - if the artifacts appear / disappear it fractures the data & power wire of display driver in area in the cover mounting hings http://pile2.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Dell-Inspiron-15-7559-Review-inner-parts-1.jpg in this photo on the right side under the SSD .M2 goes around the right fan
matrix may cracked? how tough bag?
if there was a photo could be understood ... maybe liquid has been spilled? a stiff frame and hit on the LCD panel driver?

They won't do that; not unless it is new enough that you can return to seller (place of purchase) but again you have your Dell Warranty; use it. Have them fix or replace it.
Thanks for all the replies. I called Dell and they are willing to repair or replace it, I just need to find a time where I won't miss my computer for 10-12 days. As of this moment, the effect seems to have gone away again. I'm going to try not taking it with me the next few days, see if that helps.

They should be able to do a turn-around time of 5-7 days.

Last time I had to send in a customer's Alienware laptop; that was the turn-around time. And that was for a problem hardware issue that they wanted to see first-hand. So they asked us to ship in for repairs instead of doing the on-site-tech-repair option.

But I guess that depends on the issues and where YOU are located and such.

Anyways yea they should ship u a pre-paid box with proper padding and all for shipping the laptop back. What you want to ensure you do though; either wipe or reset the OS clean; or totally remove anything personal off the Drive(s) in the laptop before u ever send to anyone for repairs. If you know for sure they are replacing it; just offload any personal files from the system, then totally wipe the drive clean. They don't care if it's wiped clean, they can reload it again with their OEM OS edition should the system get refurbished, etc.
