Please Help - trying to use 360 controller on Windows 10

Okay, so I'm trying to use my xbox 360 controller on my Windows 10 64-bit. I'm plugging it in via a charging cord and it's not working. When I turn on the controller, the green lights blink on and off like it's trying to sync itself. I've opened Device Manager, and it shows "Xbox 360 controller via Play & Charge kit", and it says that the device is working properly. So it does recognize that the controller is there. And when I click "update drivers" it tells me the driver is up to date. I've also tried plugging the controller in to several different USB ports, because I read that sometimes a certain port won't supply enough power. Still same problem

One thing to note is the cord I'm using IS frayed, it took some damage in the past. But when I plug it into my PC, the green light on the cord base blinks, my PC makes that noise it makes when you plug something in, and like I said, my PC says it's there in Device Manager.

Any ideas?????

The Play and Charge kit is only used for charging, it does not connect the controller with your PC or even it's own console.

If you want to use a Wireless Xbox 360 controller on your PC, you're going to need to buy a wireless Xbox 360 controller adapter.

Charging Cord doesn't work as a Device. It only supply power for re-charging batteries.

Unless u really need it to be Wireless, just grab a Wired Microsoft Xbox360 Controller; as they can be found new at around $15-20

I think I see where my confusion was; I heard about people using wired controllers to play on their PC, so I assumed my wireless controller could play when plugged in with the charge kit. I get it now though, I just ordered a wireless receiver off amazon.

This might sound really dumb, but I have the wireless receiver connected.
I have cable connected the 2 X360 gamepads to the PC and the cable has a lid that covers the gamepad pairing button and there's no way to access that button without losing the gamepad power.
Any ideas? I don't want to switch to using batteries.

360 wireless are only wireless, play&charge kit only charges it
as bad said you need a ms x360 wireless reciever to work with the wireless x360 controller

xbone will work with usb, some are bt, others need a ms xbone dongle

This is an Old thread , win 10 compatible to xbox one , xbox 360 may need the driver download from Microsoft
