AMD FX 8350 and MSI 960 4GB, getting low FPS for most games.
The other day I upgraded my PC. Before I used to have an. AMD A10 5800K APU. When I upgraded, I got a AMD FX 8350 and an MSI 960 4GB. I tried playing games like TF2, Gmod, and World at War, and I noticed the FPS are a lot lower than before. Games like Gmod and TF2. would normally get over 100-200 FPS,but know they can barely get over 50. World at War isn't that bad, before it used to get about 90-100 now it gets about 60-80. I don't know what the problem is, I have the most recent NVIDIA drivers and I made sure to delete the old drivers, I also have v sync turned off. I know I should be getting FPS, can somebody please tell me how I can fix this problem?

iv seen many amd fx cpus run at 1.1v just fine at stock speeds at full load

the board may not support dual ch with 8g and 4g dimms
would be best to pull the slow 4g dimm and run the 8g at 1600 in single ch mode

show us what mobo you have and any overclocks

not all boards are capable of properly running 125w fx cpus
Above he had mentioned it was an MSI 970 Gaming motherboard.

stop bashing amd
He bashed AMD FX-chips.
If he could return it that wouldn't be a bad recommendation, but it likely should work better than it does for OP so something is wrong.

As for integrated graphics it wasn't something I thought of, just took for granted considering the poor performance.

I have an MSI 970 gaming motherboard, I thought the samething but it doesn't have integrated graphics.

You'll need to install new graphics drivers and uninstall the old ones. If you didn't do that no wonder your performance is poor because GPUs don't work well without drivers.
I the drivers I have are 364.72 which are the newest according to NVIDIA.

Have the same mobo/cpu and had the same problem

Disable CPU smart protection in BIOS
Make sure the Slow mode switch is in the down position

really youve seen many fx 8350 running at 1.1v instead of stock 1.35 @ full speed a full quarter of a volt lower than stock.. maybe the 95w versions that run @ 1.25v can run 1.1v not fx-8350

you dont know what your talking about

and the board isnt running dual channel because the memory isnt matching

Yeah, sounds like you use the integrated graphics, switch connector from the motherboard one to the graphics card one.
AMD FX CPUs have no integrated graphics.

People should try to be helpful instead bashing an hardware or not reading enough.. Anyways in my opinion op should buy 2x8 1866MHz ram when possible and check the tempratures of both cpu and gpu.
Also how good is your cpu cooling?
Did you properly installed the cpu cooler?
Have you checked your gpu temps and speed?
Additionally what i would check is temps of mobo components too.

What's your case and case cooling like OP?

Could be moving from a APU with integrated graphics to a higher wattage CPU with a dedicated graphics card is producing too much heat in your case and you need a new case fan or two?

The CPU cooler I have is a MasterCooler T4, the 212 EVO was a little too big for my case.

I do remember switching slow mode when I was building, I'll have to make sure I flipped it back how you say.

I wouldn't say the T4 is stellar but it should be a lot better than AMDs stock cooler ^.

if you notice though hes got it running at 1400mhz 0.89v which is the power saving c1e thats what my 8320 runs at same voltage with c1e.. yours is running at 4000mhz 1.376v so you have c1e disabled.. idk anything about slow mode switch though

op said used to run fine now it doesnt makes me think temperatures and/or drivers but that ram will also slow things down to a certain degree
CornerKnave 24/abr./2016 às 12:06
Alright I flipped the slow mode down like someone suggested, I played Gmod and I noticed I had WAY more FPS. I said before I barely got up to 50, but when I played I got almost 170! I'm not sure if everything that should be is fixed, but I really appreciate your guys' support.
