RAM, 1600 Mhz, or 2133Mhz? DDR3 or DDR4?
Hello folks, I've been looking at various PC's lately, and alot of the good offers usually have certain kinds of RAM i have never seen before.

e.g. most of the £1000 computers usually have 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz of RAM

does this matter? is this better than DDR3 1600Mhz?

Doesn't really matter; newer systems require DDR4, such as Intel Skylake
DDR3 is already dead.

so there is no major performance differences? or any of that crap? when I save up for a computer, does it matter which? (tried building one myself, ended badly, got sort of PTSD on it (not literally) so I would rather just buy one)

Define "is already dead". Do you mean not manufactured anymore? just so you don't misinform people

Not much difference on most systems. However for overclocked Skylake cpu's and high-end gpu's, the higher the memory speed the better e.g. 2666 MHz. It also depends on the game. The question is whether 80 fps vs 90 fps is worth the cost.

What I wouldn't do is buy a system that offers Skylake cpu and DDR3 memory.

DDR4 is better than DDR3.

But if your budget is limited to a Haswell computer it shouldnt be a massive difference.

for skylake ddr3, you need 1.35v or lower ram
else it can damage the cpu

Yes, just because it still remains on the market, does not mean it's not dead... which it is.

And if the OP is planning months from now, that will of course mean going with DDR4, as that will be all that remains; Intel LGA-2011v3, LGA-1151, and then AMD AM4... all using DDR4...

Alot of computers seem to come with DDR4 now, which is why I am asking
