it does not require intel but does require a high performance cpu depending on game and resolution.. the x4 640 will not be able to capture gaming very well at all

Ok besides recording, what about gaming itself? Like performance

I'm using an AMD FX-6120(a fairly weak CPU) and I have no issues with it. Shadowplay mainly uses the H.264 decoder on your GPU, so CPU performance isn't impacted that much. I've used it a few times with my GTX 750 Ti and I've only noticed a 5% performance decrease.

Ok because Ive been neglecting my youtube lol, I really want to get back into it and Shadowplay is the best recorder..

big difference between fx 6 series and x4 640 due to 3 cores and 3 threads on fx-6 the x4 640 will not be able to record newer games regardless of video card... wait till you get the gtx 960 and youll find out..

Now what about say an AMD FX-8350?

an fx 8350 records quite well..

your x4 640 will be a "bottleneck" for the gtx 960 in terms of utilization (youll see 100% cpu usage before 100% gpu) but if you upgrade cpu later youll get better fps down the road compared to a 750 which would be a more equal match for x4 640

Yeah which i'm in a tough decision with my cpu as well, but thats beside the point, It'll do for now
