What difference will the i5-6600K and the i5-6600 yield in gaming?

K versions are slightly faster and you can overclock them. Other than that, no difference.

Still, a K typically runs quieter and cooler because it has aftermarket cooling.
i5 6600k is 91w vs the i5 6600 @ 65w so the i5 6600 will run cooler the 6600k does not come with a cooler so you need aftermarket the 6600k even at stock is a little faster than 6600 and is unlocked (k) so it can be overclocked on z170 motherboards

Yeah, well, Intel stock coolers are beyond trash. I wouldn't be surprised if a 6600K with a good low-end cooler like a Cryorig C7 actually ran cooler - it produces more heat but also has vastly better cooling.
