AMD FX 6300 - A question of quality!

Greetings peeps!
Soooo here i am, in an attempt to craft a viable, budgety PC which could run titles such as the Witcher 3 and multitask with ease - and yesterday i ran into the FX 6300.
Rumor has it that for a 2013 CPU it functions quite neatly but yet, since i have no actual knowledge as far as these matters 're concerned, i do require some assistance :P

Pass. No sense buying FX right now. It's already obsolete and a dead socket, so no future upgrade options available. You can get a better performing Intel for less right now, or wait for Zen and see how that shapes up.

go with a new i3 over any fx for gaming
or i5 for not alot more

if you already have a decent am3+ motherboard/ddr3 ram its worth it especially if you can get it used if your talking about a new build its not the best option

The LEAST you want is an FX 8xxx with a decent motherboard.

Otherwise go Intel

theres actually not that much of a difference in most games between 6300 and 8350 because of the utilization especially when fx-6300 is @ 4ghz

But the 8xxx is a better chip regardless.
Years ago the FX 6xxx had issues playing games and needed a windows hotfix to resolve

Now granted thats been long taken care of, but if i had to choose an AMD CPU id rather pick one that never had any of those issues to begin with.

Either way, all around the FX 8 is better if the OP has to go with AMD.

if you can sell the fx cpu, board and ram, pickup an i5 board and ddr4 kit for around $300

For newer games like Witcher3, especially when adding Multi-Tasking and/or Live-Streaming into the mix; you want nothing below FX-8320 or 8350; 16GB RAM...

and for 1080p @ High or Ultra on most games, nothing below GTX 780 3GB or 960 4GB

FX8300 overclocked would be a middle ground, I wouldn't bother with a stock FX6300.

I3 6100 is a mixed bag witcher 3/gta 5/fallout 4 it does good but games like a few above and http://www.techspot.com/review/1096-star-wars-battlefront-benchmarks/page3.html it's not so clear.

I use an FX 6300 and yes it is dated but it still performs well. I actually saw one at a local retailer for 79.99 USD not long ago. Great budget cpu. Are there better options? Yes, but this cpu is a damn good consideratiin.

Thats great and all, but there is no point to make any newer builds using that ancient stone-age tech.
