Is there a way to auto switch between your prefered speakers? Windows 10

By that I mean headphones/speakers/bluetooth etc.

Well, if using bluetooth or USB headphones, they will automatically switch once connected or disconnected if the headphones are set as the default audio device.

For 3.5mm headphones, most(if not all) on-board audio and sound cards will automatically switch once the headphones are plugged into a front-panel audio port.

When I switch between my bluetooth headphones and speakers it doesn't auto select a preference. I am using my Asus x99s sound system instead of a sound card. If I don't select a prefernce it doesn't play anything other than the test. Would that be the problem?

I switch between speakers and headset all the time with both connected. Changing the default playback device in volume settings will do it. But I use a command-line utility developed for XP, but it works on win 10 as well. Google and download nircmd, once you extract it anywhere on your pc, you can switch by running this command and replacing the name with what you see when opening volume playback devices.

You can create batch files and link shortcuts for easy switching or use an app like rainmeter to monitor it status.
