Need help: New parts old case?!
Hello steam family, So my journey begins the 24th of this month....I ordered an I5-4460 with a Evga 960 SSC, also a motherboard, Ram, etc...(Off pcpartpicker). So I got everything besides the case (Which was cheap but sadly partpicker didn't calculate my total right). But I have a HP Pavilion p6000 series desktop that didn't work because I needed a new powersupply. I gutted it and removed everything (besides a nice 750GB Hard-drive) and now the case is empty! My concerns are will I be able to install the Motherboard and GPU? (P.S I never really built a computer yet so I'm even wonder will it damage my parts! :nonplussed_creep:

Depends on the motherboard form factor, and that of the case, I think you will be fine, but one thing to note, you may need to move around the mobo mounting screws to match the holes on the motherboard, and in some cases, you may need more.

It's a Asrock H97 Anniversary Motherboard. And thanks! I saw from this one site saying it's okay because "Cases are just metal boxes." But I wasn't so sure.

It depends, if it's an OEM case it might have some kind of proprietary layout, but I guess the only way to know is try it.

It should work, my only concern would be the PSU possibly being too big. Don't worry if it doesn't, you can get a case for about $20

And I wouldn't worry about damaging parts, unless you're really rough that shouldn't be possible.

But I love being rough...Lol all jokes. I got the PSU already (Newegg did good with that however Pcoutlet taking forever) the PSU fits but I wish I could take a picture and show the case. Also if you'd like to send me a link to that case for 20$ I'll check it out :steamhappy:

$25 at Newegg - they can't be sirius!

Terrible puns aside, it's not even a bad looking case - although apparently the buttons are a bit cheap. Still, $25 for a new case is amazing.

According to the reviews, it's cheap but actually a pretty nice case to live with. I'd say go for it!

Cheap isn't always bad. I've had some great experiences with bargain-basement gear.

Well I just received my parts. Wish me luck! (Let see how things fit).

Update for anyone who wanted to know: The mobo did not fit! Those who want to know if it'll work with a HP p6000 series pavilion case the answer is "No." I bought a case, thanks to @Okami updates will be fine just for the links.

Just scrub that OEM/HP Case from your PC life. They lack cooling and airflow; and generally won't be any good with systems that have mid-range or higher dedicated GPUs inside.

You can get a decent mATX Case for under $40
Like Thermaltake, Cougar, DIY-PC-Case off Newegg, etc...

The HP chassis would have been sufficient, if you would have bought the right mainboard.
If i see this correctly, you bought a full sized ATX board for an mATX chassis.

So, make sure you buy a large enough chassis.

Ahh yes, true... I over-looked that too. Asrock H97 Anniversary Motherboard is full-ATX, not mATX. So you need a Chassis with minimum 7-rear slots to accommodate such motherboard size/form-factor.

If you want a decent one cheap, something such as these will suffice:

Thank you guys for helping, it's amazing how generous this community is (just sucks my first time building a gaming computer came out like this lol) however I was too late to read these comments and end up buying this https://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16811208060 now I'm even more worried that my mobo won't fit this (even though pcpartpicker said everything is good) I'm extremely nerves!

Also! http://pcpartpicker.com/list/c3X9NN here is my build (well if you take away the case it would be as of right now) and that's with the new case I just purchased.
