Upgrade to nVidia GTX 1060 8GB, computer slow.
I have a two years old Asus G 20 aj computer that I opened a couple of days ago to upgrade the graphics. I got another power supply and connected a 6-pin connector to the card, I also got the drivers and removed the old ones. But for some reason everything loads slowly. Both programs and games take way too much time to load in than when they did with the old card, but once they load they run really well. I'm wondering if I might have issues with my hard drive, motherboard, or PSU. Any info helps.

What motherboard do you have?

Slow loading isn't a graphics card issues, rather it's most likely hard drive, memory or drivers.

Scan your hard drive for errors and/or defrag it - if required. My Computer > Drive Letter > Right-click and select Properties > Tools > Check for Errrors.

For your motherboard, check the offical website and ensure that the Chipset/Bus Controller is installed corrected (hasn't been removed by mistake) and things like Intel Rapid Response (if your hard drives make use of that).

For the Nvidia graphics card, it's best to get the drivers from Nvidia Geforce's offical website:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Optionally you can also use the 'Geforce Experience' software. Since you have changed the graphics card, just make sure to reapply optimal game settings with that.
post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
If everything is loading very slow my guess is its the hard-drive or you have some sort of virus

Uninstall the extra crap that the NVIDIA installer installed
CUSTOM INSTALL the drivers and ONLY select the Drivers and PhysX.
Can you post your Dxdiag txt. file ? Slow booting could be caused by a bios setting causing conflic with your 1060. It could also be a power saving feature in your windows. But before we check that... i need to see your Dxdiag txt. (A+ Certified Technician)

Computer seems to run Garry's Mod and FoF at max just fine now with OK load times. Skyrim is just acting weird. Will update if anything else occurs

As for the dxDiag results for Glenn: http://pastebin.com/G4WdzahQ

Thanks guys for the help
I experienced something similar while I had the 1060. The Witcher 3 took a long time to load the first few times but after that it started loading normally.
Turn off Shader caching in the NVIDIA CP
That could be a possible cause
Shader Cache should always be off unless you have the OS on SSD; as it will use C drive by default for any shader cache. Now while using NVIDIA Shader Cache can have an impact on drive space, it is very minimal. But also that the first time you load up a game (once u set your graphics options and all) the game can be slow at first. But after should be much faster loading and smoother overall gameplay.

But again the results will vary based on hardware and the game itself.

So yes try forcing this setting off in NVIDIA Control Panel on the Global tab and see how it does with the same game afterwards.
What's your new psu? Just because it's new doesn't make it good. Check it on this list:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

If it's affecting all your programs, then it's either a hdd problem or a psu problem. Another possible point of failure is your sata cables got loose when you replaced the psu.

Skyrim performance problems can be caused by having an incorrect gpu id in the game options. If you use ENB they might also contain a gpu id and memory settings that need changing.

It is also advisable to remove old drivers completely using DDU when changing gpu.

Yes even an NVIDIA to NVIDIA GPU swap/upgrade; DDU out the Drivers and then install the most recent ones from Geforce.com/Drivers > Select GTX 1xxx GPU model > OS

During install select Custom and tick the clean install box to clear out previous NVIDIA Control Panel settings. After GPU Driver install, reboot and then configure NVIDIA Control Panel.
I experienced those too when i upgraded to gtx 1080. From 15 sec boot time to 2 min. But then i tried reading online guides, theyvsay try to update, reset your BIOS. Tried updating BIOS then clearing CMOS. It worked for me, booting time went back to normal and loading was fast.
your RAM is what would cause a slow down or it's the CPU overloaded. Post details of both.
