Neither. Fanboyism prevents you making objective decisions and may keep you from having the best system possible. I've always gone with whoever offered a better product for my needs, often that's Nvidia but I wouldn't hesitate to buy AMD in the future.

Fanboyism can be fun, sports are more fun with team loyalties and fandom. But forming an attachment to a PC parts company seems a little silly; you buy a part from them, it works. Why love them for that? they only did what you paid them to.

Unfortunately amd has not been a option for gamers for awhile now in the cpu market.

As for the gpu market they have been suffering because of the miners for awhile now as it can be hard to get their cards for msrp as this happened back in bitcoin days and now eth as the 480's are very rare and until vega is out in 2017 they have nothing to compete in the upper range unless you grab a outdated fury.

It's good for the market to have competition but sadly AMD has fallen behind in both CPU and GPU. AMD CPU was good choice 3+ years ago but not anymore. And they are about to lose the GPU fight as well unless Vega turns out to be amazing and cheap but I kinda doubt that.
AMD is unable to dump huge sums of money into development like Intel and Nvidia and it really starts to harm them.

Pretty much this.

We hear that for several years already: "our future products will be soоооо good..."
Never happened yet.

AMD was a threat once, but I feel like their time is ending. Nvidia is a juggernaut, and may be too big to defeat. Their huge cash reserves mean they can take risks that won't necessarily pay off, absorb most setbacks and out-develop AMD for hardware tech.

Nvidia also has successful side businesses to keep itself strong. They're a major player in the car industry, most Driverless Cars have an Nvidia made droid brain. A lot of American and European cars also have Nvidia electronics in their multimedia, nav and data processing systems.

My concern for AMD is that Nvidia will eventually be able to cash them out. AMD are still making good products, but they're purely a PC parts company. They have no business interests beyond that, and that makes them quite a small and vulnerable company by today's standards.

I don't want to see AMD go away, but if Nvidia wants a monopoly on the GPU market - I think they could achieve it.

At least AMD have consoles with them (Playstation and Xbox)

Console developers are the only people more cynical than I am. They'll go with whoever provides the best deal and the biggest margin. Right now that's AMD, but for how much longer?

AMD has console manufacturers, Nvidia has car manufacturers. I think it's a dead-heat on that account.

Really, they are not. They have ARM CPUs and semi-custom solutions.

Good to know, I'm glad they're not just reliant on one income source.
