GTX 1060 for 1440p gaming
Is the GTX 1060 powerful enough to game at high-max settings in 1440p? I heard somewhere it was 980 ti performance but I find that hard to believe. Just to be clear I'll be overclocking to the max. If I get a 1070 I probably will have to wait till next year for the 1440p monitor and will use dsr to fill the 1440p gap

I know, but then I'll have to wait for my 1440p monitor. Is it POSSIBLE that I can game with the gtx 1060 at 1440p, even at 50fps if I do the maximum possible overclock before it starts glitching the screen?

1440P requires more VRAM than 1080P, the Gtx 1060 has 6GB (not powerful enough to use all of it) and the Gtx 1070 has 8GB.

1440P requires more VRAM than 1080P, the Gtx 1060 has 6GB (not powerful enough to use all of it) and the Gtx 1070 has 8GB.

At 5760x1080 my 980Ti can easily utilize all 6GB of VRAM. The 1060 is the new GTX 980. The 1070 is 5-10% faster than the 980Ti in most cases.

I don't see why the 1060 would have any issues using all 6GB of VRAM, but the problem you run into is that the GTX 980/GTX 1060 aren't geared toward 1440p. They can certainly handle the resolution, but you're settings will have to tinkered with in the high/medium range.

1080p: GTX 970/980/1060
1440p: GTX 980Ti/1070/1080
Over 1440p: GTX 1080

I'd strongly suggest a 1070 or 1080. If you can't find or afford a 1070, you can always settle for a 980Ti.
