Windows 10 Clean Boot and Steam
After having some issues with my new PC and querying Microsoft on what could be done to help, they suggested performing a Clean Boot.

My question is: Will this interfere with Steam, or any of it's components (like VAC)? Here's a link to the guide for doing a Clean Boot:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows[support.microsoft.com]

UPDATE: The issues I've been having are detailed (and still unresolved) here:

So it's basically restarting Windows in safe mode to sort out the cuase, so yea you obviously won't be able to play games meanwhile. Clean boot...is it what they're calling it these days?

Apparently, Clean Boot and Safe Mode are two different things.

And my main concern is that it'll have long term effects of some sort. I'm paranoid about this stuff, given how much time I've put into Steam.

Clean Boot essentially lets you disable potential conflicts while the PC is running normally
Whereas Safe Mode disables everything and runs the OS on basic software/drivers.

What exactly are the problems you are having?

And as long as you leave the Microsoft services and Steam services alone Steam itself should be unaffected.

Post a screen shot of the Services shown with Microsoft services hidden, we may be able to help you further troubleshoot.

Clean boot allows you to select certain elements to be disabled, and safe mode simply clears all of them.

Given that I've actually ran the PC in Safe Mode already (no success in fixing the problem), I'm assuming that running a Clean Boot won't make any difference either?

so it has to do with running a virus scan?
did you do what was suggested and run the scan in Safe Mode to see if the same results happen?

Have you tried resetting Folder Permissions?

Yeah. See my above post (edited).

Don't I already have full privileges if I'm the Administrator? In any case, I don't know how to.

These people seem to have it figured out. Not sure if it's exactly the same issue but you wanna give it a try:

I think I'll pass on that for the time being, given that it relates to Windows 8 and not 10.

I will say though, that I was able to run a successful virus scan without error when I first got the PC. It indicates to me that something has happened since. I only use my PC for gaming and just general internet browsing, so I have no idea what could have caused this.

If there's any more information I could provide that you think might help, just let me know.
