Such issues can be RAM related, especially if doing a lot of multitasking
To see if its GPU related or not just use DDU in safe mode to clean uninstall the NVIDIA driver
When reinstalling the driver Choose NVIDIA DRIVER then CUSTOM INSTALL, deselect everything BUT PhysX, dont install GFE.
and go from there
Hardware acceleration in Chrome is buggy, and it's not much better in Firefox.
But Chrome is really good at freezing PCs that are using the GPU for gaming and video decode in separate apps. Discord and other applications like Edge and Vivaldi that are based on the same code also can freeze your PC when running in tandem with Chrome due to a longstanding bug in Windows and NV drivers that will likely never be patched (it is also present in the Linux NV drivers).
TO FIX IT:
What you can do is set your browser or the application your are running that causes the freezing to use the iGPU using AMD or Nvidia's software; Since you have Nvidia, you can do it with Nvidia Control Panel.
GUIDE:

If it continues, try disabling hardware acceleration and test if it freezes. Disabling hardware acceleration will make your PC use your CPU more, but it can lead to better stability.
Example of someone else complaining about browser freezing with NV and Chrome browsers:

Also keep in mind that Chrome has an active exploit, update it if you are using that browser right now.

Lastly it can be a hardware issue, but since its so rare and you said you saw GPU driver crashing, it's likely an issue with the driver and specific software you are running.
