Recommendation for Hyperacusis Ear Plugs/Muffs?
Would anyone know and recommend any good ear plugs and earmuffs for Hyperacusis? I have those CVS ear plugs but I think they're too cheap and not really meant for long term wearing. Or even reusable.

I'm thinking some ear plugs, preferably ones in which I can wear one in my right or left ear since my job requires interacting with customers. And ear muffs at home when outside noise is too loud (rain/thunder etc.) And if the ear plugs are waterproof so I can wear them in the shower.

Have you given any thought to custom earplugs? If you have any coverage or can afford it it's something to consider. I had some made a number of years but my company covered the cost. They do a cast of your ears which is a bit uncomfortable but they seemed to be like a silicon base so definitely would work in the shower. My wife has the same issue as you so she uses the 3M classic ones which have a noise reduction rating of 29 decilbels but I found those things get itchy after awhile and would get wet in the shower. Another thing you could try is noise cancelling headphones or earbuds but even if those work for you the shower situation would still be a problem.

I've been using Etymotic Research ER20 for many years and I really like them. I work in engineering at a manufacturing plant and typically have to go out on the shop floor to answer questions or look at assembly issues. Hearing protection is required but I find the typical ear plugs are a pain and you have to yell at each other to have a conversation. The Etymotic Research ER20 do a great job of reducing machine noise without completely muffling voices and other sounds. They aren't perfect but they are far better than the disposable ear plugs.
