Audio buzz/noise from speakers only with heavy games
Hi, hope someone can help me out? I have an EVGA 3070RTX card, when playing demanding games I hear a buzzing/noise sound from my speakers.
If I play older games, no issues. If I listen to youtube no issues.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? A faulty PSU? Or maybe the GPU?
Thanks very much for any insight on this!

Where do you connected speaker to? What is audio equipment? System specs?

What you are experiencing is called EMI or also known as Electromagnetic Interference / cross talk. The amount of electromagnetic interference coming from your graphics card during graphically intensive games, which explains why you do not experience it when watching a simple youtube video. Poorly shielded motherboards, audio/video cables are susceptible to EMI.

The solution is to either use better shielded cables for your audio or video equipment. Make sure the audio cables coming out of the back of your computer are not resting or touching another cable that it could be receiving interference from. If better cables don't resolve the issue the interference is coming from the motherboard, you might need to invest in a small DAC to plug your speakers into to filter out the noise.

I should know because I experienced this with my headphones years ago. I ended up buying a Schiit Hel DAC for my headphones. Problem solved.

*Edit* If you're running games at very high frame rates without VSYNC enabled can also cause this to happen.

*Edit2* Here's what I pulled up on a quick internet search: https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/buzzing-noise-from-speakers-only-when-playing-games.318580/

it may only happen with analog

if using hdmi from the gpu for audio, it will not get any interference

if you are using the mobos onboard analog 3.5mm jacks then its due the the poor filtering on the analog sound processing amplifying, or very poor 5v on the psu, lots or ripple/noise in the rail

Thanks for all the responses. With my rtx 2070 I did not experience it, is that also logical? Thanks again and I will try solutions posted and will let you know.

Probably just bad shield on your Motherboard then. I recommend quality USB DAC + AMP.
Ok, so this is my solution;

I have disconnected the audio from the motherboard and used my monitor as a DAC to my amplifier and now the buzz is gone. So it was indeed EMI. Thanks for all help!:steamthumbsup:
