Question on IPS monitors
I recently bought an Asus VG27AQ 1440p monitor and noticed that it has some obvious IPS glow in the bottom left corner and a little on the bottom right corner of the screen. Enough that it can show through in some cases when gaming. Has anyone had any experience with this monitor? And where you able to change the settings to limit this? I am thinking I might exchange it for an identical model but I am afraid the exchanged unit might be worse or have dead/stuck pixels. The one I have now thankfully has no dead or stuck pixels.

I was also looking at the LG UltraGear 27 1440p model 27GP83B-B and was thinking of buying one to compare it to. Has anybody had any experience with this model of LG? Is IPS glow present on most of these models as well? And has anybody ran into dead pixels on this one?

Finally how does the LG model compare to the Asus I currently have? They look comparable but the LG model runs about $175 CAD more than the Asus model. Both are on sale and the LG is only $50 more currently.

Some backlight bleed is pretty much inevitable with IPS panels, mine has it in two corners also but at least not strong enough to show while gaming.

you can turn down the backlight a little to reduce the bleed/glow

it should be done on all led tvs/displays anyway since the mfgs overdrive them, will make the display last much longer
set backlight to 50-75%

It's pretty much inevitable with IPS panels, almost all of them have noticeable backlight glow, it's called IPS glow for a reason

In general all IPS monitors have glow and I think recently it's been fair to say that many gaming monitors have pretty poor contrast. Usually monitors arrive set way too bright, and turning that down to normal levels will help. Perhaps if you want something to compare it to you should try a VA panel?

I have lowered the brightness way down low and increased the contrast some and that seems to have helped. But when gaming when there is a dark screen I can still see what looks like a smudge showing through in the lower left corner.

Might try the LG model to see how it is. I would exchange the Asus monitor but I would have to order another one as the Best Buy in my city is sold out and it may turn out to be worse.

Or stick with the devil I know and fiddle with the settings some more.

Id rob a bank to get an oled and get off that dinosaur technology. Having did this im so glad just looking at it is awful and mine had little bleed it just still stinks conpared to OLED.

The LG tv was like 599 at one point and the Alienware was 899. Sure its a big leap like four times the cost but its legit a four times better panel at least. Infact you go from 900-1 contrast to infinite contrast.

Yep can`t wait for OLED to mature some and become actually affordable and without burn-in problems.

Look up pixel refresh and pixel shifting tech burnin takes 3000hrs of a static logo on some oleds. Its not an issue imo ill take that one downside over all the IPS downsides poor contrast, Poor backlight bleed QC, Poor motion response and pixel response and poor coatings as well the sparkling AG on many... 2023 is the year IPS declines to its death.

3000 hours = 125 days, just over 4mo of use
not nearly long enough for a display

pixel shifting and blinking, why get a good display if its going to mess with the image while using it

i have 3 of those monitors an i know the industry likes you to believe its the norm
none of mine have BLB thats one of the many reasons i choose this brand and model
i personally would return it ASAP.but to be honest you have the worst of the 3 models
the AQ model is the first while its a great monitor it doesnt like going below 110-120 fps
while the others are smooth from 60-144 fps the best model is the VG27AQL1A
absolutely the best monitors ive ever owned and i bought them when they were
400-450.00 worth every penny good luck.
if you have a good card and keep the fps above 110fps you will have no probs with that one.

There are LG and BenQ panels that have IPS glow… just use rtings.com to find ones that have better reviews

3000 hours of a static image. 4 months of a logo that was the torture test not normal usage. Look it up Nintendo Switch OLED. It certainly is not a throwaway technology. My first gen Amoled phone had burnin though i left youtube on for 8hours while charging ooops but it still looks better than my IPS with the burnin.
