Lagging on low ping and high fps help!
Ever since august 25th, i have been getting weird lag issues on all of my games, basically my ping would always be around 40-30 but i wouldnt be able to move for 3 seconds, instead my charecter would fidget before being able to move again. this is hapening on all of the fps multiplayer games i play. Its even worse when i play overwatch and tf2. noone has been able to help me yet. If anyone has gotten this issue and/or knows the fix pls share it!

find out where the loss is coming from

start -> run/search -> cmd
tracert google.com

(first hop is your router most are 192.168.x.1)
(2nd-3rd are your modem or isp)

ping -t 192.168.x.1 (modem ip)

open another cmd prompt

ping -t (2nd hop that responds)

play a game til you get lag spikes

go back to cmd prompts and hit ctrl+c to stop them
they will give results, min, max, avg and loss
if max is over 100ms to your router/modem then its a lan issue

if its wired, replace cables or get a new router

if its wireless, change its wireless channel to one thats less populated
*protip, use a droid phone and download 'wifi analizer'
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en
will show nearby wifi networks and what channels they are on

if the 2nd hop is getting spikes and the first is not, its an isp issue, have them send out a tec to fix it

He means click StartMenu > use the Run or Search area and type CMD > Right click CMD and click Run As Admin. Easy way to get to RUN is Winkey+R then in the box type CMD

Once Command Prompt Window popups up, type
tracert google.com

This will do a complete Trace-Route from your PC, through your ISP, to Google.com
And give you all the speed-bumps (IP# hits and Pings for each) that are in between your PC and the internet.

Manually changing the DNS address all your PCs use can help also.

you dont change the dns address, that should be assigned by your router, or use 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 for googles dns servers

in the cmd prompt type
tracert google.com

Comcast then disable the Firewall completely in the Router; otherwise the default setting for that will block certain things; Game Clients, Game Servers, etc.

Overall best bet is ditch the Comcast modem, as you are paying extra $10/month to rent that; and get your own Cable Modem + Wireless Router (2 separate devices). Once you purchase your own modem + router and register the modem with Comcast, you can opt-out of their modem + rental and return their modem & save some $

Depending on which Modem + Router you buy, it would generally pay for itself in about 1 year. If you pay Comcast for more then 1 year of Rental fees, that is $120 per year which would easily pay for a new cable modem, such as Motorola SurfBoard DOCSIS 3.0

Check bandwidth usage in your home. Is someone else watching/streaming video online? or maybe a torrent seeding/downloading?

Don't think that it is a router problem, if you have any suspicion about your router firewall, then set your computer as a DMZ in your router configuration.

Disabling my firewall did absolutely nothing

I used freemeter to check how much bandwidth there is and i noticed it would go up to at least 800 kbs sometimes is that good or bad?

Check your speed here: http://www.speedtest.net/

What is the bandwidth that your ISP promise you? 800 kbps sounds kinda low... also please check upload and download speeds (both are important for wan games).

Are you connected via ethernet or Wifi? Please, always make the test using a wired connection.

You didn't say anything about not having an Ethernet port. There are very few laptops that don't have an Ethernet port. Post the make and model of laptop.

If this issue just came up recently, then you may have a new interference source that was introduced. You may need to play with the Wifi channel your wireless router is running on.
