Yep, time to go certified son!
First one I got was a budge prebuilt, my mobo is a msi 760gm -p34(fx), which I'm trying to figure if its worth upgrading or getting another, or building, I want someothing asap
so looking now with an open but somewhat modest wallet $600, hopefully lower
Funny how different speech is taken by others. I can now never take anything you say serious in this thread w/o considering that you called me son.
And the thing is, you probably meant nothing by it.
Words have started wars. Lol.
This is horrible motherboard and AMD CPUs are all outdated and weak dead end anyway with AMD Zen using different socket and DDR4 RAM in the future.
Best to build a new rig, i5-6600K, Z170 motherboard, 2x8 Gb 2400-3000 Mhz DDR4 RAM or if this is too expensive then i5-6500, B150 motherboard and 2x8 Gb 2133 Mhz DDR4 RAM.
Hell even i3-6100 gives FX-8350 run for its money.
And I would not go with weaker graphics card then GTX 1060 or at least RX 470, 480.
LoL, meant Gold, SIlver, Bronze certified PSU.... And you can butcher that build, and get a decent 1150/1151/2011-v3 board and a decent chip to throw in it for way under $600, just carry everything over from the old build. But since you brought it up, I went college for a bit but dropped out a couple credits shy of my 2 year. Took everything from Database Administration to Advanced Networking and some crap for credits like animation, coding, hardware, etc. Got a handful of certs in the process, Cisco cert, Microsoft Cert. Repair tech, CCNA, had a GSA contract for a lot of work in DC installing lines, boxes, firewalls, the usual crap...
Lmao, AMD screwed themselves hard, my Strix 390x still poops all OVER the 4xx series. The only difference is the 4xx have lower tdp and lower framerate XD
And that's why I'm going Nvidia this round, because wtf seriously AMD... Moving BACKWARDS...
Yeah, I just didn't wanna work in the tech field anymore, but I never got into comparing specs, you learn basics, then a lot of networking when on entry level jobs, nothing like finding compatible parts
Looking up those boards
1151 :
6600K CPU http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?2042549_g10e
and w/e suits your fancy for motherboard
1150 :
4790 (K or no K, I have the base model and it keeps up with my high demands)
Once again, MoBo depends on the feature set you need
2011-v3 :
Now we're getting into the high end, I'd suggest the 4820K, and you can upgrade all the way up to the highest known processor atm, the 6950x, but that's just wishfull thinking :P
Meh not enough info out yet, and the only big thing I've heard about is a massive PCI lane boost. And of course it's not going to premiere til next summer and at a hefty price tag im sure... But it is nice to have options, although if you're looking to save up and upgradew in the future, might as well go 2011-v3, those things are crazy fast and only getting cheaper...
It's lot easier to code a game that supports only few cores then one that supports 6+ cores so I would not imagine things changing in this regard anytime soon.
2011-v3 is better for streaming though but in pure gaming there is no difference.
The PCI-E slot gives 75w of power, so thats all it should need.
500w is plenty for that card.
True, to a point. But I do a lot of multitasking, so I'm usually stretching this poor 4790 to it's max lol. What I would give for a sweet sweet 2011-v3 setup *drools*
Only 2 2011-v3's i know of are 1K and over.
Core i7-6900K
Core i7-6950X[
Others are close, but you have to be a sharp shopper ;)
