Help Brand new GTX 970 no display
I just got a new GPU to upgrade from my old Radeon HD 4650 and it's not displaying video at all, if I remove the GTX 970 and insert the Radeon it works like a charm. I don't know what to do, I am one step from RMA. I made sure to check my 8-pin connector with a multimeter and I am getting 12V readings, my old Radeon works, so it's not my PCI-E.

my setup
CPU: Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2GHz
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair 1333Mhz
Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
PSU: Corsair CX600M
OS: Windows 10 64-bits

New GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Mini ITX OC 4GB 256-bits
Old GPU: XFX AMD Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bits

Edit1: The new GPU fan spins when plugged in. In case this helps figure out the issue.

Are you actually plugging in the8-pin power cable for it? It's required to actually start.

Yes I am, sir
Have another PC you can try it in?
What actually happens when you switch it on? Are you getting the post screen, or just nothing at all? Any beeps when you switch it on?

Sadly, no. I might take it to a tech assistance today just to check it out.

I don't get any video signal at all (I can't see the bios menu because of it), but I still hear the boot beep from the mobo speaker

You need to ddu remove the AMD driver shut down and install your new Nvidia GPU

Try a mimimum boot, as in remove everything that's not needed to boot, and try again. Also, it could be an issue with the BIOS, have you tried updating it?

EDIT: I did notice you said the other card boots fine, and I'm assuming you still have the old drivers and software. Do what Xp suggested, as your system is still trying to boot an AMD card, which you don't have.

How come? I don't get any video at all (can't even mess with the BIOS). Could the AMD driver interfere with that?

What should I remove? I don't have any extras connected (except keyboard) and my BIOS is up-to-date, even so I downloaded the latest version and updated, still no video display.

Do what Xp suggested, I know it sounds weird, but it does boot the driver before the OS, so it could be that. Try uninstalling it using DDU, shut down before it tries reinstalling the drivers, remove the old card and try the new one.

I am going to do this right now, wish me luck!

What you want to do first is reinstall the old GPU, go into the OS and DDU out the AMD GPU Drivers. When completed, shutdown the system properly, then swap GPUs.

With newly installed GPU, then power-on and allow 30-60 secs after system power on to get a Display.

I just did exactly as you described, still no video :steamsalty:

I installed the old GPU, entered Safe Mode, DDU'ed the AMD Drivers, shutdown, swapped GPUs, powered-on and waited 3 minutes, no signal at monitor.
Either the card is an issue, or it could be the PSU failing to power the GPU enough. Have you tried both HDMI and DVI?

My monitor only accepts DVI, sadly.
I just tried to change the PSU 8pin cable for another and it didn't work.

Sorry for the delay, Windows 10 decided to update to anniversary crap and I had to deal with freezing while trying to rollback.
Last things I would try are update the bios if a newer one's available and force pci e in bios incase it's going to onboard vid.

After that ^ I'd give up and rma the 970.
