4K Blue ray movies on 1440p screen

How 4k movies will look on a 1440p screen? Like the new Dead Pool movie that got released in 4k? I fianly made the jump from 1080p to 1440p(because 4k monitors are too expensive and my pc not powefful enough to run 4k max settings in games until next upgrade). With the first 4K movies already out like Dead Pool http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/05/deadpool-4k-ultra-hd-blu-ray-review-this-is-detail/ Iam wondering will they work on my monitor and PC will just downsample them to 1440p or will i get a error message saying that i need 4k monitor?

My pc is 2500k 3,3ghz 12 gb ddr 3 1600 mhz gtx 970 g1 gaming 4gb. I run all new games max settings 1440p even Witcher 3 that is too demanding with noi ssues at about 30-40 fps. So 4k movies wil work at 1440p 24 fps ? Or lower? I know that Ultra HD PC drives will be released in 2017 and will buy one of them then. Mnitor is DellP2416D (24'' 1440P60 HZ IPS)

As more and more 4k movies are released. So should i try 4k then? Will it look much bettee than 1080p movies on my 1440p monitor? Also should i use VLC for 4k movies like i do now for 1080p?
