Gateway Upgrade Suggestions
I am currently running a Gateway DX4860-UB32P with a Core I3 2120, 8 (or so) GB of RAM, a 300W PSU, and a GT640, partnered with a 1TB SSD. Which would be the most cost effective way of upgrading? I was thinking of a GTX 7 series card, or either getting better cooling systems and taking a shot at overclocking the 2120. Or should I hunt for the optional 500W PSU as that would give me pleniful space to upgrade in the future. Or as another idea was driving this machine into the ground while slowly building up another Gateway I have had plans for, but don't have much money to build. Any help will be greatly appriciated (unless you are here to criticize my machine). I dont play very demanding games, as I use my Xbox for that.

You can't OC the CPU.
1TB SSD? You mean HDD, correct?

500-550W PSU and GTX 960 4GB would be reasonable for most games @ 1080p
No point going with older GPUs.

Whats for the reasoning on not doing the OC?
Positive it is an SSD

Doing this build on a very limited budget, what about a 770 TI?
It's a locked CPU and an OEM board; so you can't OC it.

GTX 700 are basically not on the market anymore. Except for maybe GTX 750 Ti or used GTX 780.

GTX 960 are fairly cheap, decent GPU

It would be pointless to use a higher-end GPU with an i3 CPU anyways.

oem and 2nd gen i series non k cannot be overclocked at all

open the case and see what power supply it has (brand/model)

min gpu for 1080p gaming id go with is gtx 960 or r9 380 or better

Ahh, I see. Would it be even worth it to upgrade this computer, or should I start finding parts for my other one (which I plan on getting a GTX 980 Ti once the 1080/1070 come out so the 9 series drops in prices, and possbily either a lower end core i7 or higher end core i5 and overclocking them)?

Pretty sure its the factory PSU, which I dont trust but technically its not my PC so if it blows up, then its whatever. Also, I really dont care much for 1080p gaming.
