Good graphics card for my Alienware x51 r5??
So, I don't know the first thing about choosing graphics cards or installing new software. That being said, could someone give me a graphics card that would run a game like Fallout 4 or GTA 5 on maxed settings? I'm willing to spend 200-300 dollars. My pc specs are as follows:

Alienware R5
8.00 GB RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645

Yea, and that won't run games really any better then the GPU he already has.

GTX 970 is basically minimum for those game if u want decent visuals @ 1080p

You will need to purchase the Dell 330W AC Adapter; or plan to transfer the X51 internals over to an ATX Case and use an ATX PowerSupply.

AMD ones like 380 generally won't work off the X51 power adapter; requires too much power.
Up to a 970 or 1080 would be fine. 980 CAN work, if it is a lower-powered Reference Model and not a higher-powered OC model.

1070 would be your best bet, as it is around the same max TDP as a GTX 970; but at double the performance.

Again, you will need the 330W AC Adapter... or transfer the internals to ATX Case w/ ATX PSU. Please ensure of what are willing to do regarding this part, prior to any GPU purchase.

The best bet to help answer questions is tell us the AC Adapter your X51 has now.
It Dell Model# + Amps + Volts, what is it?

The AC Adapter I have now is the one that came with the PC; it's specs are as follows:
-Model # DA180PM111
-Input 100-200V ~ 2.34 A 50-60 Hz
-Output 19.5 V 9.23A

I understand that, but X51 has many available, depending on the hardware it shipped with.
So again the choices to consider. It won't work as-is if you pop-in a higher-end GPU that needs more power.

You would need this at the very least:
DELL XM3C3 330-watt AC Adapter for Alienware Laptops & X51 Desktop
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Dell%20xm3c3%20330W&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3

Or get an ATX Case and ATX Power Supply, then the above AC Adapter won't be needed.

I just ordered the adapter! Do you think the GTX970 Would be fine, or should I go a little more expensive? I'm a college student so I'm living on somewhat of a budget.

Look for an RX 480 8GB if you're willing to search
