Thank Nvidia for price gouging there GPUs.
Same way many stores are trying to sell RX 480 for the price of R9 390 because it has same performance. They dont give a damn about Nvidia or AMD recommended prices.
Yes it is Nvidia fault. If they didn't charge so much for there BS "refernece card" this wouldn't have happened. This is 100% Nvidia fault.
So far the lowest I have seen was $399 on newegg a few days ago so I don't see the issue.
Which store do you use? If I can get a 1070 for not much more than a 970, I'm in.
A high-end gtx970 currently sells for $450. A FE 1070 costs $750.
From Newegg. A GTX 1070 for $600. Well, six hundred and one.
Would it not be possible to buy from them, and have the part shipped? That may sound like a childish question, but I'm still fairly new to this.
On topic: Developing a chip, the tooling, and building entire new factories to handle a die-shrink is expensive. Part of the way all chip manufacturing recoup that cost is to make the early adopter pay a premium for the privilege of being the first to own it. Don't like it, don't be an early adopter.
