Sound Comes Out Wrong Sides
So i've already looked this up, but nothing ive found has helped, except one thing where i saw a guy say "front panel wires go to mobo headers and which are very easily reversed. As can wires from any optical drive."

Now i did put toether my pc myself for the first time so there is a good chance i messed something like this up, but i dont know what he means by all this. Any help?

Don't take this the wrong way, but we need to cover all bases:

Are you wearing the headphones the right way? Sounds silly, but this needs to be established.

Do the headphones output sound the correct way when plugged into a different device?

Do the headphones have a detachable cable and, if they do, is it pushed in all the way into the headphones?

What motherboard and/or sound card are you using?

Do you have a different pair of headphones or speakers you can plug into the computer for comparison?

What headphones are you using? Do they have a built-in mic with a single 3.5mm audio connector or dual 3.5mm audio connectors?

oh no lol dont worry you cna call me a complete idiot but if you help me fix this ill love you either way.

-Yes im wearing them correctly.
-Yes they do for other devices. I listened to this video on my phone and then now my pc and can tell its flip flopped on pc
-No the cable stays in the headphones
-https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0097WLXW6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 motherboard. no sound card
-I did have headphones before this with the same problem. When they broke physically i said ok time for new ones but the problem with this still persists
-headphones https://www.amazon.com/SA-708-Stereo-Headphone-Headset-Microphone/dp/B00DU2CHE2 i was on a tight budget when i got these but they do the trick

turn the headphones around. If you're wearing them correctly and they play on the wrong sides just wear them incorrectly.

Go to Control Panel, Sound, click on your sound device (should be Realtek HD Audio based on that motherboard) and click Configure.

Is Audio Channels set to Stereo? Also, if you click Test, does the audio come out of the correct side as indicated by the graphic on the right side of the window? You can also click on the icon for each individual speaker to play a test tone.

it is set to stereo and they come out the wrong sides still. they have a play button and it plays sound from each side and when it says its playing out the left it plays out the right

Do you have the latest Realtek HD Audio driver installed? Should be available here : https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H61M-P31W8.html#down-bios

If you do, you should have the Realtek HD Audio Manager running in the system tray down by the clock. Open it.

First make sure that the jack assignment is correct. It should show you all the available audio jacks and the ones that have something plugged into them should be lit up or brighter than the others. Click the one that the headphones are plugged into and make sure the assignment is set to Headphones.

Second, make sure that the speaker configuration is set to Stereo in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

ok so heres the deal. In teh audio manager my jack was plugged into the green jack which on my front panel says it is the audio jack. When i plug my headphones into there the manager pops up and asks for me to tick which thing i just plugge din there was (headphone, mic, etc.) So usually i click headphone because obviously thats what it was.

Then i think to myself "heck why not try pluging it into the microphone jack and telling the audio manager that it was teh headphones i just put into the mic jack. So i do this and boom, now audio is coming out the correct sides 0_o Why this is happening, no idea, but now i just have to plug my mic in the headphone slot and if it works then problem solved!

ive just tested the mic using an online tool and it works! my stupid last ditch effort ha spaid off thanks for the help!
