Wait for the AMD RX 480 release at $199 or $229 for 4 or 8 GB VRAM rather than the 750Ti or 950 and you'll be up there without paying much more.
The graphics cards mentioned won't make it at the higher graphical settings but I assume they may make it at the lower ones.

Is it a used system you're considering? If new I'd ditch all of the motherboard, processor and RAM and get a H110 or better socket 1151 mini-ITX motherboard with wire-less lan if that's what you are after with an i5 6500 and 2133 MHz DDR4 if H110 or B150 or the fastest supported RAM at not much higher price you could get on an Z170 motherboard.

If you could afford it I'd also go with the RM550x as PSU instead.
1 TB HDD doesn't offer the most space for the money, I guess you may not want to get the 500 GB Samsung EVO 850 and ditch the HDD but that's one thing you could do for the same money. Or you could get a 128 GB SSD (not cost efficient) and 2 TB HDD instead of you want to swing in the other direction.
If from Australia
What did you think of the build I posted then?
$600-700 aud
buy a console

If from Australia
Doesn't change the relative price. I'm from Sweden.

I don't know what that comment is supposed to mean but of course the relative price of each component is similar all around the world (except possibly in some very protectionist country which tax unequally among country of origin but still have some manufacturing within itself or some area where the tax add-on is lower.)
no

aud is close to usd exchange rate
http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=AUD

but tech prices in au are nearly double that of the us

the build above in usd would be around $500

Prices in Australia was never something I argued about though.

I know that Australia is an expensive country to purchase imports in.

But the relative price of a GTX 950 and an RX 480 in the US and the relative price of a GTX 950 and an RX 480 in Australia is likely about the same. Both are more expensive in Australia than in the US but the RX 480 is just a bit more expensive than the GTX 950 in both countries.

(Maybe more now when 1080 and 1070 has come out and the GTX 970 fallen in price because I guess they may have or will lower the prices on the lower end models too but that still doesn't change anything - the relative price difference is still likely the same in both regions even if the PRICES are different.)
should i just get a wifi adapted usb and then look at better cheaper motherboards?

I don't know. I don't know if an USB adapter use much processing power or have some other disadvantage.

Do you want a mini-ITX / small motherboard? There's valid reasons for that such as a small case.

If you don't care at all about it then the micro-ATX and ATX motherboards have multiple PCI-express slots and you can of course hook up a PCI-express wireless adapter there.

There's very few ATX motherboards with built-in / bundled wireless though.

I assume there's also M.2 wireless adapters but maybe you'd rather use such a slot for SSD.

Don't bother with wifi on desktops as the onboard lan motherboards have will run the ethernet cable better.
