Asus beep codes
I just got a z170-e asus motherboard and everytime i boot up i get 1 short beep. accorting to terminal I am running AMI 1203 bios and for their beep codes it means dram refresh failure, However, my system boots up normally and I can run windows normally. Ive just tried another set of ram sticks and the same thing happens. Ive talked asus tech support and they said that this is normal. there are no red lights lighting up on the mobo. I just want someone out there to confirm that this is normal and means my board is ok before my return window is up.

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

dram failure = bad dimm

try 1 at a time to see which dimm or slot is causing the problem

You will probably find it's 1 long beep:
- Meaning POST has passed all tests sucessfully

It's normal, but old school.

You should however, go to the offical website:
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170-E/HelpDesk_Download/

Download the latest BIOS version, if you're not already on it. Flashing BIOS, is rarely done, but these updates 'Improve system stability' so well worth it.
