Jitterbug SmartPhone questions
A senior citizen Friend of my dad who I usually handle all the family's PC repairs/setups/upgrade; anyways he has this smart phone model. He's trying to hookup via USB and transfer Photos for backup to his Win10 PC I made for him.

Long story short, he's not getting any Drive Letter coming up, as though Win10 is not seeing the device at all. I need the Drivers/Software and Google is not helping at all. I keeping find links for Driver downloader apps; which are just spyware crap. Can't seem to find the official drivers/software elsewhere.

This is the Phone itself if you need a reference:

I use google photos app on my phone. It has the option to keep original resolution. Then just log in to google on a PC.

I realize that; but the guy is a senior and is "old school" if u will... explaining that stuff to him is way over his head, trust me.

There is no "memory card" it's just 8GB onboard flash, that is all.
USB should work for data; but it has to be a DATA cable; not a CHARGE ONLY cable.

Are you sure that phone is even capable of FTP/MTP?
As its one of those simple phones i wouldnt think it would have it, smartphone or not.

When its plugged into the PC, is there any notification or anything?

If its capable of FTP, it should be listed within the Developer settings, or some where within the settings itself.
I'm beginning to suspect that this USB cable may not support data transfer actually, as in only the power wires are connected, since after having connected to the PC the device specifically won't allow me to select MTP or PTP mode even under Developer Options section but only Charge mode.

Will get another one and see what happens.

Yes many go into a store, pickup a $5 usb cable only to realize later it is CHARGE only.

This was the mistake alot of folks were making with trying to use XboxOne controller via USB cable as well.

on some droid versions you need to enable usb modes for the pc to see any storage on it

Guess that's it then. No matter what I do both end of the connection won't recognize anything. Windows won't even register an 'Unknown device' either.

I sometimes wish there are more Type C interface devices available already to double check these cables. :steamsad:

yea it'll be years before we're ALL using the true universal C-type USB
Something that should have done for USB to begin with. C-type doesn't matter which way u plug it in; and it's already small enough to have that right on your Tablet or Phone...

Just like the Mini HDMI and Mini-DP ports.... just make those the standard; get rid of adapters... First off, HDMI should already be dead, cause it's not even a secure connection.

Set it up once, add a bookmark on PC job done.

If the phone is has internet, you could always instruct him to get TeamViewerQS (Quick Support) on his device.
Then just remote control his phone and or PC.
(wait... does that phone even have the play store?)

Thats even if that Phone can use it
Its basically a Dumb SMART phone, many features may be disabled to make it more simple.

It has all the features of your average Android phone; it just has a large-DPI UI which is also basic layout/looks. And it won't run most Games due to it's lower spec design.

Thats why it fits in that class for seniors; the phone was $50 and the he has unlimited voice/texts and 1GB data; for $15-20 / month

Well if it has the playstore
try getting the teamviewer app and go from there as fractal suggested

No; that is backdoor spyware crap.
It's all over the internet about people taking control of your hardware with that app.
No thanx.

Ummm.. that is the whole point behind TeamViewer, you know that right?
or is it just specifically that android App that is the problem?
Bad 💀 Motha 2016 年 6 月 20 日 下午 5:58
I understand Remote-Connect Apps... this is one of the worst.

I see people on Steam suggesting this to "friends" all the time; this is another scam that people are using to steal info from other steam users as well.
