all sectors have the same access times
defragging helps on a spinning drive so all data for each files can be read without moving the head very far
It seems it's just doing "trim" . From what I've read online.
Nothing to fear. Leave it on.
So yes, in Win8 & 10; allow Disk Defrag to be left on auto is fine for all your drives.
If you want to trigger it manually from time to time; that is fine. As for auto-defrag to work, the system must be idle. So in many situations, it never gets done unless you do it yourself anyways.
Once a month should be fine.
For HDDs though; do it after installing large games, or copying large amounts of data to said drive. As that can help the overall read performance; like with a large game for example.
The Display shut-off @ Lock-Screen is normal; it happens in Win8, 8.1, 10 by default.
I set it to Preformance
Yea folks should just leave that alone. Make those changes manually or not at all.
I might reinstall tonight then and just leave it alone after install. (And yes.)
However, isn't the screen saver supposed to come on instead of turning off the monitior?!
Just go to Control Panel > Power Options and change it.
For Magician; use that to update SSD firmware and install RAPID Driver; that's all u need to do.
I tried, I even tried the registry hack
I set it back to High Preformance (not Samsung's) , put the CPU to 25% min (so it's like AMD Cool N Quiet ) , and set it to not turn off hard disks. I'll see how it goes from there..
In a Desktop this won't matter anyways since that will never change your CPU Clocks; period.
Only way that changes is if you change Intel SpeedStep/Turbo in the BIOS.
Changing CPU min/max in Power Profile only works when you have a Battery.
HDD Timeout only affects secondary drives. The primary will never go to sleep until you actually put the system in Sleep Mode. The HDD timeout I would just leave alone; since that is a time for when IDLE anyways. So the system has to basically be idle for 20 mins (or whatever that time is entered there) before secondary drives go into auto-sleep
It seems if I lock it myself, it dies in 2 mins. If I let windows screen saver come on and it locks it.. it doesn't .
