it just states to plug the wire into the charging dock,
which ofcourse i do,,, it then shows a "cancel and a start box",,,
but ofcourse.. .the start box is unselectable =/...
<results from google search>
after googleing it seems that this is a common issue with the firmware updates for the sensei wireless =/.
one user managed to get it updated but ofcourse
hes a mac user, where as im a pc user,
he managed after getting his upgraded to windows 10, i'd pretty much prefer to stick to windows 8.1
i've tried admin mode, windows 7 compat mode,
admin + win7 compat mode,
i've tried a usb 3.0 and 2.0 socket,
i've tried dock pluged in and mouse off,
dock pluged in and mouse on,
mouse pluged in and dock off,
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the steelseries engine 3
all this before and after opening a support ticket with steelseries...
im just not looking forward to them telling me to RMA'ing it
as
1. it works perfectly fine, as its a retailstore bought brand-new mouse
2. plugging the mouse and dock in without the update works perfectly fine
(excluding once in a while it might reset itself / turn off, but im putting that down to it not having the "crtical update"
3. and most of all the price it would cost to send it off to RMA'ing it if i was to do that...
considering my location and the price it would cost to send the mouse to steelseries
it'd actually be cheaper for me to buy a new mouse...
(but again this goes back to the hardware itself working perfectly, its just the software update that doesn't seem to want to work)
Either to place of purchase (if within the stores return policy) or via a warranty RMA through SteelSeries directly.
You could also try it on another system and see if you can get the firmware updated. You shouldn't need any drivers or extra BS to do that. Simply download the firmware and run it with the mouse on, or directly connected.
and as stated same as this post
https://www.reddit.com/r/steelseries/comments/3e0up7/sensei_wireless_firmware_update_error_occurred/
theres nothing wrong with the product itself, it just wont update the firmware.
if it was as simple as doing the update in wired mode, i would have...
but as stated again,
when you click to do the update it requires that you stick the docking station in.
----
its this reason i asked for help from sensei wireless users, or anyone whos had experiance with the sensei wireless
<its for this reason that i've edited the post to be aimmed at sensei wireless users>
nore do i want windows 10,
and if it "was" that simply,
i wouldn't be asking for help now would i =/
if its that simply is funny that theres a lot of people having the same issue
even a rep from steelseries have stated to me when i was in a chat with them said they are aware that a large number of people are having trouble with the firmware
Maybe just return it and get something more to your liking.
i have the steelseries apexraw keyboard,
ideally i'd prefer to stick to having a steelseries mouse to go with the other products i've got,
and yes your right it shouldn't really matter about the os...
but watching youtube videos, windows 10 users seem to have no problem what so ever
getting the update progress to start,
and as stated the mouse and the dock work perfectly fine pre-update
it just refuses to start the update...
but mah.... if i dont get a reply from the support ticket that i've issues with steelseries to fix this
ill just take it to the local GAME store where i picked it up from, tell them whats going on and request to change the mouse..........
which doesn't fix the issue what so ever =/... it just sweeps it under the carpet >.<....
i bought the mouse for a reason =/... having a wired mouse is just a waste of time considering the rig i've set up =/
all this just because steelseries cant sort their drivers out =/
(if you was a sensei wireless laser mouser user, you'd fully understand the issues)
