It will "auto override" your systems power scheme settings.
Overclocking = More power usage, more heat, more noise, for a mere few more FPS. Unnoticable theses days. Go back to 1999, where the microchips where larger (therefore more airflow room to keep cool when overclocking) and far less effective out of the box (therefore more higher overclockablility), if you want to actually overclock something worth while.
Real overclockers don't use an app, rather go via BIOS. However, you have to know what your doing to remain stable.
ps: If you have "ASUS Liveupdate" app installed, suggest getting rid of that too. Just manually update your drivers every now and then, rather than using that automatic process. It's a security hole at the moment.
Asus hardware is great, the bundle bloat software... not so much.
Probably have to look around for Win 10.
There's everything from paid advance stuff, to freebees (some aren't that accurate).
Win 7 has a CPU Temp gadget add-on you can just place on your active desktop. You could try it I guess if it works for Win 10. It's called "Core Temp Gadget" by ALCPU I believe.
What else would you need.
Just use them for their features, monitoring, etc.
You can use Afterburner though for GPU Fan Control.
Among many other things.
SpeedFan should allow Fan Control of Fans connected to Motherboard; but overall I would say all fans should just not at 100% at all times. If they are loud and you need manual control, get a Fan Controller and connect your fans to that. Except for CPU Fan, that should always be connected to Motherboard.
