powerfull pc slow boot time?
Hi. So i have 2 PC's currently set up. Both running from SSD's. But my main pc which is much more powerfull, takes much longer to boot up. The actual windows load up in about the same time on both of them, in just a few seconds. But the problem is the bios stuff taking much longer on my main pc.

1st pc: Win8.1, i7-5930k, 16gb ddr4, gtx1080. Using an ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard. Takes about a minute in total to get to the desktop.

2nd pc: Win10, i7-2600, 8gb ddr3, gtx680. A prebuilt pc with stock motherboard. Takes ~14s from the press of the power button to the desktop. Bios screen literally only shows for 3 seconds before moving on to load windows.

It's not a big problem, just feel like my main pc should boot faster.

My Rapmage 3 Ex checks lots of stuff too before going to windows loading screen. In my opinion you should play with your bios for a while and check if fast boot enabled also you may be able to disable some post messages.

edit:

if bios takes a long time, enable quick boot
and disable any raid configs you may have

'Fast Boot' is enabled. I also dont have any drives in raid. BUT i did found a setting in bios, dont remember what it said exactly, but it basically makes sure that only the boot drive is used during post which speeds up boot time (or something like that). So now it boots in about 40 seconds, which is better, but still way slower than my other older pc.

Just go to task manager and disable background programme from running during startup I did this once and now bootup is now faster than before

Do you have any USB peripherals plugged in? Some USB devices can slow down the POST time. My PC was booting slow with my headset plugged in. I disconnect the headset before rebooting and the problem is solved.

Yeah i do have 5 usb devices plugged it. Will test boot time with all usb devices unplugged, when i have the time. But even if usb devices are slowing it down, it would not be worth it to unplug them everytime just to speed up boot time by a few seconds.

If you could get a usb 3.0 dock for all to plug into that would mean 1 unplug every boot

I have an Asus Maximus VIII Hero, in my bios by default fast boot only works when restarting, there is another option to enable it after a power down.

SSD speed has nothing to do with it. It only affects windows loading speed and everything that comes after that. My problem is that the bios, which happens before windows, takes too long.

Try this (if the options are in your bios)
MRC fast boot - enabled
MCH full check - disabled

Both should be in the DRAM settings.
