I have had no issues running my 600+ games (not all are on Steam). Biggest issues have been all the companies getting their drivers up to date. Majority have updated now to a usable level.
Linux is starting to catch up but it will take a few years to get all gaming ready so be patient. In the end it will be Linux as the king. Until then. I'm all about Win 10 if you own a lot of games.
If your hardware and install is done right Windows 10 works fine. DX 12. No other place.
Been there through it all for 30+ years.
I've seen Windows 10 not let you install software. But for ONE reason. They can't support it. Example the software that runs the function keys on my laptop they shut off due to to many issues supporting it. BUT I have found a way to loop around it and work just fine. If you know what you are doing you can run anything with Win 10. But I don't hack or abuse any licenses. If you do that I have seen issues with that. If you do good luck. But don't complain why stuff isn't working right.
The background stuff is big but it's not using that much CPU or that much RAM.
MIcrosoft is not dumb. They have more money and people to do it right than almost anyone.
