As this forum post[www.tomshardware.co.uk] suggests your motherboard should be fine with GTX 970, but what are your other specs? What is your current power supply unit (or PSU)? If you don't know what is your PSU you need to take off side panel and see the labels on it.

350W Corsair VS350 PSU, is that good enough?
I dont believe it is, looks like I need a new psu
Is that PSU a new one?
As the VS have not been out that long really.

And what CPU are you using?
As that can be a factor if using say FX-8 series, since the TDP is fairly high.
GTX 970 page recommends a 500 W PSU, in reality you should get away with less power, so we need to know rest of your components to calculate power of PSU you need.

AMD Quad Core FX 4300 3.8GHz
- 8GB RAM
- 1TB HDD
- 2GB AMD Radeon R7 360 Graphics Card
- Windows 10 64bit
You will want nothing below an FX-8 series of CPU if you are going to lean towards a higher-end GPU such as GTX 970 -or- R9 390

Not to mention a much better Power Supply

Yes it will work great, im running it on the M5A97 EVO which is the version before your board..

And I agree with Bad-Motha, you will need a better PSU..

it will work, but the gpu wont be able to run at its best
limited pci-e lanes (pci-e x16 2.0 is half the bandwidth of pci-e x16 3.0)

with the fx and gtx 970 you want a quality 550+w power supply

the gtx 970 is not fast enough to utilize pci-e 3.0 bandwidth even with faster cards it makes no difference to +1fps
