Frame rate drop after moving PC
Basically I've move 4 times recently. The first place no problems, the second place (same local area) i got a huge fps drop. I moved again and it went back to normal so though nothing of it.

Now I have moved again and suffered a huge fps drop. None of my usages (CPU, RAM etc) are over 50% and i have not installed any new software since the last place. The internet connection is the same, about 90mbps up/down with 0 packet loss and a ping of around 19. Nothing spikes when i experience the fps drop but it is consistently low when in game on and offline.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what it is, how to fix it, and how to prevent it in the future?

Games i have noticed the drop on are - Fallout:New Vegas, Dirty Bomb, Dota 2 - i played one game last night on the lowest graphics settings and got about 11 fps for an hour long game (you can imagine my pain)

I've check the back and im plugged in to the correct ports, I havent disassemble my computer other than un plugging things to move it then immediately set up when I got into my new room.

Im currently scanning my computer for viruses (about 70% done now) but i dont think i will find anything.

I dont think that should matter as before the move these games were working smoothly without any spikes, lag or fps drops whatsoever.

But for arguments sake,
intel 1-7 4770 (3.4ghz x2)
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 650
64 bit

The only thing I can think of is that your display cable is hooked up to your motherboard instead of your graphics card, making it so that you're using the integrated graphics instead the graphic card.

Nope, im pretty sure im in the right socket, swapped the plugs and tried fallout, was even worse, so swapped it back.

Also the computer recognised that and brough up different intel CPU based graphics settings, when i change it back NVIDIA came back up again.

Would check inside computer for loose connectors( fan, press pin on cpu)
What are temps on cpu?

I did have a quick look inside, all the fans are running as normal and it doesnt seem to be loose.

I retried Dirty Bomb and it's not just an fps drop, the audio is affected too with the noises ecoming broken, if i tab out and check cpu etc nothing is over 50% usage still and i can run other programs (startup and close) at the same time.

did you plug the monitor into the gpu or the mobo?

GPU, see above.

are you dealing with low fps or lag?
Flush Jun 1, 2016 @ 1:28pm
low fps, after i first experienced it playing the initial game after moving i turned on steam's fps counter and done a few internet connection tests. During the game of Dota i played my fps was 8-11 but my ping was 19 and 0% packet loss.
I have tried Dirty Bomb since and get about 20fps, same with fallout.

Remove all RAM and GPU; then re-seat them.
Double check that the CPU Cooler is secure fully/properly.
When you move a Desktop PC, the Motherboard can flex in the process, shifting the GPU out of place, or even the CPU cooler.

Double check ALL internal connections. If un-sure on something, disconnect it and re-connect it, after all it can't hurt to do that.

Ensure any connected Displays are actually being connected to the NVIDIA GPU and not the video outputs from the Motherboard I/O

Ill try but im not that savvy when it comes to computer internals. Also what sort of stuff should i do for anti-static when handling the compnents?
