Creative Sound Blaster Connect Not Working?
Hi all.

I have a problem and was wondering if someone with a bit more "know how" could help me.

I recently bought myself a set of creative sound blaster kratos s5 they are plugged in via usb and work fine, Windows recognises them in the sound control panel and everything is hunky dory EXCEPT this damned software you use the change the rgb and sound settings.

So when i click on the program it starts up then immediately CTD`s. So after hours or reinstalling and uninstalling i finally got some where with it. I can get the program to boot if the speakers are turned off. So i went one step further and left the speakers turned on but disabled them in the sound control panel. Hurrah the program boots and shows the speakers are connected. But because they are disabled i cant change any settings and to actually use them i have to re-enable them which causes the program the CTD

I`m just wondering if anyone has had this problem before and if anyone has any ideas as to getting it working.

They are plugged into a laptop btw and there is not any bios settings to disable the on board sound and realtek drivers. (even though i have disabled them and uninstalled them from device manager)

Thanks in advance

James

it could be using the 32bit driver instead of x64
try this
run msconfig, boot tab [advanced options] -> max memory [tick] to 4096 mb
reboot

if that works, its the x86(32bit) driver not the x64 driver

set ram back to unlimited (blank/untick) and reboot, then get the correct driver

creative has been really lazy on x64 drivers for their hardware

Just gave that a go and still the same problem i see where you were coming from though as when it does launch it launches a 32bit program.
Thanks for your quick reply its much appreciated
This is top result on google for this very common (hundreds or thousands of affected people) and quite recent (2019 summer windows update caused this for me) problem, so I want to let people know how I solved it. The hints and how to can be found here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/this-operation-requires-an-interactive-service/eb69ca85-5791-4026-b6fb-d06b74e12357

Basically, I had to

Set myself/Administrators as owner of C:\Windows\System32\drivers and C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore folders. At first my windows got somehow corrupt and I couldn't do that in any way (even in safe mode / cmd commands), so I had to reset/reinstall my windows;
Uninstall any blaster x software and drivers;
Uninstall my Eset Nod32 antivirus;
Restart my PC a couple of times.
Finally it installed itself and started to work properly without any manual installation.

Hope this helps if anyone stumbles.

On the back of the Sub is a LED button, Press and hold to reset the speaker system. See if that gets it working again.
