I am not sure what TVs are available in Australia, and it also limits options since you want a cheap one. But yeah, just something to keep in mind. Try to not get something with more with 30ms if you can, most TVs have a "game mode" in the settings to help with that issue.
many older ones do not and will have 50-100+ms input delay
12. Televisions
“While it can be hard to resist paying $150 for a 40-inch TV, sometimes if a deal is too good to be true, it probably is,” explained Sherin. “If you are really wanting to invest in a quality TV, stick with retailers like Best Buy whose specialty is electronics.”
Glaser adds that you can even find better deals on high-end TVs at other competitors. “For the higher quality TVs, Dell Home and eBay consistently offer better deals,” he said. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/30-items-to-avoid-at-walm_b_9533516
newer samsung, lg, visio are fine
avoid emerson, philips and other unknown brands (upstar)
and look at specs
4k may not have a 4k hdmi2.0 input
full 1080p = 1080p
1080 = 1080i (avoid)
hd = 720i/p (avoid)
smart isnt as bad as it used to be, lots of those features can now be disabled
if a store has one on display, see if you can navigate its menus to to to game mode and disable overscan
Do not be tempted with the cheaper brands or unheard brands, you'll be disappointed.
